an epiphany it burns so pretty.

So, I'm still stuck firmly in the past. There's a surprise. I still keep thinking about how my dad can't see any of this. How, the one time I've managed to do everything he thought I couldn't, he isn't here to see that I pulled it off.

But hell, I am happy, so, so happy that I have reason to actually want him to know about all this. I have a six week old son who amazes me every day how different he is, I have a wonderful wife and I can sleep again. So all I can really do to ease my conscience about my dad is this.

Be a Catholic for...oooh, a day. Have my son christened at the same place I was. The same place I always got dragged to. Except I will be doing no dragging. Maybe that's what I really need to do in respect of my father. Not make the same mistakes he did. Which I have been determined to do since my son was even concived.

So yes. Let's not screw this up, Abime.

Guess who bought you something? He's sitting in the kitchen, trying to fix the toaster we got as a wedding present and failing. He also has something for Mathieu, but you'll have to come and get that off him.

...No, I don't know how all these strangers get in our house. I really don't.

There is a christening this Thursday. Of Mathieu, believe it or not. L'Eglise de Saint Antoine. Get a map out, it's not hard to find. Done, dusted, see you there. Or I am entitled to hit you when I get back to school. How's my favourite godfather's French, by the way?

Staff, general population of the scrolls, but I do presume only the staff are actually paying attention - if you haven't been invited already, you're all welcome at my son's Christening this Thursday. No, I can't be bothered with formal invites, and yes, it will be in French. Nevertheless, if you want to turn up, it's at L'Eglise de St. Antoine in the outskirts of Rouen.

That's about all I've got. Except I'm dreading having to do notes when I get back to school. New textbook, seventh years, which makes life fun. It might have said on your letter 'Arithmanthetical Theories and Applications - Advanced' but ditch that. In the short reading time I've had avaliable, S. Lawson's 'Complex Numerology and Arithmancy - Theories and Application of Number' is just better. Kicks the other books arse. So go buy, people.

And read it too. Whilst I dance around my living room and pull faces at Mathieu.
