Late Bloomer
I took this photo a few days ago. It's a black-eyed susan that had been trying to bloom for about a month, but was prevented from doing so by our chilly October weather. Finally a blossom opened. Last year's black-eyed susans didn't return this summer and this plant must have sprung from a stray seed dropped last year on the lawn.
