Nature in Suburbia

I swear, the leaves are not just falling but jumping off the trees since yesterday. They're fluttering down in droves like some kind of precipitation. Our driveway is truly carpeted in yellowness.

Yesterday I uprooted and tossed out all my old tomato and bell pepper plants. I salvaged as much potting soil from their containers as I could for next year. That stuff is expensive, plus I think this is the "green" thing to do.

Today I might rake up a few million maple leaves, which will barely put a dent in their tonnage.
