After catching a glimpse of the new Kamen Rider that is starting to show on US tv, I was curious to watch the first two eps of Kamen Rider Ryuki, the original Japanese version. It looks a bit interesting, but I've already read the premise of the show and it didn't really grab me. I do like the idea of the Riders brawling and all, but perhaps if they'd made the characters a little more interesting to me or the storyline a bit better, I dunno. I kinda wonder if they should have done a US version of Den-O instead of Ryuki, since that's more popular, but I guess they figure the Brawling and the cards might make Ryuki more of a hit over here. Just can't wait til they show Decade, as I really want to see Wataru, Ryotarou, Tendou(and Kagami hopefully), Takumi and perhaps even Kidou again in the new series.
As it is, I'm watching Den-O again so I can watch the movies finally - watched the
Gaou movie last night and it was pretty fun. The movie is worth it alone for the Sieg fight finally, which we were denied in the series due to his almost-disappearing. The story in it was pretty good, and I liked that we get to see the parents of the Nogami siblings. Another thing I liked is that even though he had amnesia(though I'm not sure of the reason for the memory-loss whether he hit his head or the time-change), Ryotarou was able to face off against Gaou somewhat, even when the villain came to the day he was born in order to wipe out the Singularity Point, i.e. Ryotarou himself, so that Gaou could erase time. It's still sad in the ep after this, ep 28 when Ryotarou thinks he has lost Ura, Kin and Ryuu, though cool since he gets the Climax Form. Momo freaking out as the pieces snap on was very amusing :D .
Speaking on Toku-sentai, I know I've not really watched a lot of sentai, but so far my list of watched-sentai(to borrow from
hoshikage) ranks as:
1. Magiranger - cool characters(esp Kai and Tsubasa, plus Smokey! :) ), and the storyline is really good
2. Boukenger - I'm almost tempted to rank this first, since the characters are cool(esp Eiji who is my fav sentai actor), but the plot is a bit episodic.
3. TimeRanger - very cool story and the characters are interesting with their backgrounds, but what ranks it above Abare is Tatsuya's dramatic moment and Shion. ^_^
4. Abaranger - I'm thinking this could tie with TimeRanger really, since I like it as much, plus AbareKiller and the Cursed Armor
5. GekiRanger - The story didn't really grab me, though I do like the supporting Rangers of Gou and Ken
6. DekaRanger - Very episodic, and though I do like Ban and Hoji, the way the writers did this show was a bit meh
7. Go-Onger - I feel sorry for the cast, for the writers did a horrible crack-job on the show. About the only reason I still watch it is the Secondary Team of Hanto and Gunpei(and once in a while Ren), and the Wings were very meh.
Not much else is going on, since school starts again in a few weeks for me. After it snows today and tonight, it's gonna get really cold most of this week, so I'm not planning on going anywhere unless I really have to. Do have a doctor appt tomorrow morning though.
