Artist's Notes: Created for inception_bang . I had such a fun time working on this mix! I was really inspired by the unique music and fashion styles that were highlighted in the game The World Ends With You. As a fan of Shibuya-kei's independent sound and look, I really enjoyed the chance to try to represent the world yaoimunchkin has set her fic in. Shibuya is such an important part of both the game and fic--it's almost another character, really--that I thought it was important to really let it shine in my mix.
A lot of the images accompanying these songs are pictures of the real counterparts of several very important locations in the fic: the Udagawa backstreets and the mural in particular are well-represented, in part because graffiti is so important in The World Ends With You, and of course because these images make for splashy, colorful pages. Please forgive my clumsy art; I'm not much of a whiz at digital art, but it's there to help the reader visualize yaoimunchkin 's world with better clarity (as is the mix itself), and if it lives up to even a fraction of her fic, it's done its job.
