My god. This is so gorgeous. I love the Alice in Wonderland feel, and it's so appropriate for Ariadne. She definitely felt very "girl in a new world" during the movie, and when she was first exploring dreams she definitely had the confidence and disregard of convention to suit the image of a little girl. And the situation that you've placed them all in... *swoon* So terrible and wonderfully depraved. Your descriptions of the real Alice made me shudder - she was so ghastly and yet regal; I'm also addicted to the idea of Alice as the Red Queen.

Sadly, I haven't read the original Alice - I do know where to find it, though, and will get on that as soon as possible. The fantasy and the twisting of reality was glorious here. And, in the end, she was still dreaming, right? It's a fantastic twist, and it made everything so much better - was she dreaming in the first place? Was she ever awake? This story is going to keep me thinking and puzzling for quite a while. This is a really wonderful fic, and I feel so privileged to have read it. It's beautiful, terrible, and perfect. Thank you for writing it.
