For those that haven't seen the Facebook post

So, I thought it would be fun to write a top ten list of films that I saw for the first time and that were released in 2008. It's just for fun, not really a critical type thing. Here they are, running from 10 to 1!

10. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
I'll admit it: the first time I saw this movie, I didn't really care for it. Then, I thought about it, saw it again, and really liked it. I can't even remember why I didn't like it the first time... probs just being moody or something. It was very funny and different from many of the comedies that I've seen over the last couple of years.

9.Kung Fu Panda and Bolt
KFP I like animation, I like pandas, and I like noodles, ergo, I like this film. I don't know, it was really funny and just a good ride. It's a great kids film but I definitely think those of all ages will find enjoyment in it.

Bolt Great animation and a really fun story. And, I totally loved that hamster! My only complaint is the Miley-ness of it. It was like... Hannah Montana? Oh, no... it's just some animated chick.

8. Penelope
My only regret with this movie is that I didn't have the chance to see it in the theaters. It was really cute and just a bright and warm film about accepting who you are. Just a warning, if you're a guy and are straight, you're probably not going to want to see it. That's perfectly understandable.

7. Be Kind Rewind
I think this movie flew under the radar, but I absolutely loved it! I just thought it was so funny and different and it had a great message at the heart of it. Art is art, no matter the quality or the reason for making it, and if you're passionate about it, then stay with it.

6. Pineapple Express
"What’s down there, a fucking Rancor?" At some points, I was crying because I was laughing so hard. It was really great. Plus, love me some James Franco!

5. Sex and the City
Yes, I said the Sex and the City movie. Judge me if you wish, but I LOVED this movie. Whenever I'm in this particular down mood, it does the perfect job of making me feel better. A lot of it very beautiful and translates really great to film. Don't knock it til you've tried it.

4. Iron Man
Helllloooo Robert Downey Jr! I loved this movie, especially since I went into it with pretty low expectations. I think there's a great balance between comedy, action, and comedy. Favorite line? "Yeah, I can fly." I was tremendously entertained and don't think I was ever bored by it.

3. is a tie! The Dark Knight and Burn After Reading
First, is first. Why so serious? I'll admit that I can't watch parts of this movie because they bother me too much but I really did enjoy it. The fact that parts of it bother me have to say something about the power of the acting and directing in the film. Overall, I think I liked Batman Begins better, but they're both on my favorite movies of all time list.

I had to put Burn After Reading at number three because I just can't bring myself to put it any lower. This is probably my favorite Coen Brothers' film and I'm not ashamed to admit it! I think it's the perfect length and the acting is impeccable.

2. WALL-E
If you didn't at least like this movie, you don't have a soul. Who else would take a sweet love story and turn it into an environmental PSA but Disney/Pixar? Well, it certainly worked. Kudos. Also, what girl/gay man wouldn't love a boyfriend with the kind of dedication and loyalty that Wall-E has?

1. Slumdog Millionaire
Yes, Slumdog is my favorite movie of the year. I've heard from some people that say they thought it was predictable and just okay. While I may agree with the first part, I thought that the predictability was part of the charm of the story. It's supposed to be a happy ending- it ends with a goddamn Baliwood dance sequence for Christ's sake! On top of that, it's a piece of art. Really, I think it's beautiful just to look at it.

There they are! I'm sure I've forgotten one or two movies that I liked over the past year. Hope you enjoyed my thoughts.

Here are my worst, for those that are interested...

2. Ghost Town
Blah blah blah borrrrinnggggg and lame!
1. Twilight
Loved the books, hated the movie. Epic fail.

Yeah, only two.
