Everything has an end.

And it seems the bus strike is one of them. Plastered on the paper this morning were the unhappy, even POed faces of the mayor, the head of OC Transpo, and the union vice president all looking like they'd rather kill each other than be together in the same picture.

Apparantly they all got together and negotiated a deal in 5 hours last night after the feds said they'd step in and force a decision. Whether they got together out of anything other than fear that the other party might get the better end of the deal, or whether there were angry phone calls going on before that, who can say...one thing is for sure, it's far too late for any of them to save face with the public.

As to the federal government's sudden change of tune, well, personally I suspect it probably has more to do with not wanting to look like a totally incompetent and broken down neighbour when the new President Obama arrives for a visit in a couple of weeks...but who knows, maybe the federal government had a change of heart and wanted to do something for the people. And maybe I'm a spring fresh Terseran. Either way, now to just wait as they get the busses fixed and up and running. Only a few more weeks...

life, government, oc transpo, silly backwards folk...
