OK, so it's been about a year since I last posted, but I think I may start again. Life has been good. I won't bore anyone with the details of the past year, and instead I'll just post about the things that made me think of posting in the first place.
At the aquarium today, where I go every week to work on a research study with the walruses, KITTENS climbed into the walrus exhibit. Yes, kittens. There's this like rock wall at the back of the exhibit and there's netting (the kind you see over the tops of batting cages) covering the entire exhibit. Anyway, these kittens start climbing in under the netting from out of nowhere. I went and alerted the keepers, and apparently this happens almost every year. Some cat makes her den up there and this is about the time that the kittens start to come out and play. They were ridiculously cute but I couldn't help but worry that in the midst of their playing they were going to fall down into the walrus pool and be eaten by the 2,700 pound

. I really wanted to take one... then I'd have one cat found by a dumpster outside of a Wendy's, and one cat found crawling into the walrus exhibit at the NY Aquarium. But alas,

doesn't like other cats, even kittens, and my constant desire to please him cannot be overridden.
Other things in life... Just got a new apartment with Liza and Bryan. We're signing the lease tomorrow and I'm super excited. It's on the borders of Boerum and Cobble Hill and Downtown Brooklyn. It is big, and has a dishwasher, and a yard, and a washer/dryer in the basement, and a working fireplace (I know, ridiculous). Basically all the things that I currently do not have and want, and then some other frivolous things as well. We move in on the 15th of May.

Also, got a job with Classic Harbor Lines as crew aboard a big schooner and a luxury yacht in NY Harbor. I start next week and I'm a little nervous but I'm sure it'll all be fine. Working 2-3 days a week while finishing up the semester and moving is going to be a bit rough though.
So yes, I think I may post more often, but maybe not. We'll see how this goes.
