another misconception

you know how you see a lot of "punks" wearing clothes with black and white checkerboards on them? or on the toes of converse all*stars people draw checkerboards? yea, its not a punk thing, its not a skater thing, its a symbol for ska. what's ska? one source says:
A brisk form of Jamaican-born rock derived from reggae and rock energy. It was popularized in the early 1980s by British “black-and-white” multiracial bands that formed a lighter faction of the punk movement.
a lot of it is punk rock with some reggae and a horn section.
no doubt used to be ska when they first started. phish, sublime, reel big fish, and less that jake are some others.

i've heard a lot of people say that chris clayton invented checkerboards. that cracks me up.

anyway, thought i'd give a little lesson.

PS: does anyone know the link between ska and fish? phish, reel big fish, and badfish are all ska bands that have something to do with fish!
