I did it. I have a house.
After a truly hellish day of delays, worries, and cluster fucks, my earthly possessions and I are settled on the homestead. Closing/moving day was an experience I'm not eager to repeat. I was too dependent on too many people who dropped the ball and screwed me over. These people are supposed to be professionals.
ANYWAY. It's all okay now. I have boxes to unpack, clothing to re-sort, walls to adorn. The house is gorgeous. Really, really gorgeous. I have plenty of space to entertain, I have energy-efficient appliances, I have a garage for my car!
Tomorrow I'm leaving at 7 AM to go pick up Dexter in Ohio. Nikki's going with me, she'll drive the way back so I can hold my puppy. I puppy-proofed my kitchen tonight and set up Dexter's room in the breakfast nook. He has bowls and food and toys and beds and everything he could want. And I'm taking the whole week off of work to bond with him, get him settled, and settle myself in the house.
I'm sort of terrified- I've never been solely responsible for another life before.
