First step is decide on what you want:
What size car, 2 door or 4 or hatchback, gas efficiency a requirement, is color an issue, what features are a must have other than 'it drives'.

Determine what you can afford, both as a down payment and as a month to month cost (if you finance)

Search online for the bluebook trade-in value of your accord. (It'll probably be 1500-2000 I'd guess, but the internet will know better.)

Based on that the max price of car you can comfortably afford. There are online car payment calculators out there that can help.

Depending on what that is, determine if you're looking for a long or short term solution (meaning a car for a couple years, or a 5-10 year one.) I'd recommend getting something reliable for the long term if you can afford it.

Browse dealer sites online for certified used cars once you know your limits. If you are feeling up to it after that, you can go to a dealer and have them run numbers for you on what you'd pay for a used car there, though I'd advise not letting them talk you into the purchase the day you go there. (It will get you a ballpark idea of your options though). If you're unsure of a target vehicle, test driving some can be a big help.
How fast do you need to acquire a new vehicle?
