That's weird. I just got a virus email from Fletch today and now you're having PC issues too. Strange.
Three seconds of power, then it does what exactly?
Does it blue screen again? Does it say "Windows is shutting down?" Does it just blank out?
If it's getting to Windows, then crashing, it sounds like it might be an issue with a driver. Those damn things auto-update all the time.
I'm sure you've tried starting it in safe-mode, but if not, that should get you to a point where you can at least roll back to your "last good restore point."
Power supplies are fickle, but I've never seen a cool one "kinda" work. Broken ones will either work for a few minutes until they cook, or they won't work at all.
If you can get it back up in Safe Mode, it's worth installing SpeedFan (http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php) onto the machine. That will show you how hot your PC is getting, and how fast your fans are spinning. That should help you diagnose any heat/fan issues if think that's the issue.
It's not even getting to that point - 3 seconds of power wasn't an exaggeration, but the actual amount of time I have power. It doesn't really even get the chance to start to boot up.
