It's been three days since Kurt was taken, and the fact that he's in the hands of scientists and she can't go after him is a constant pressure on her mind. She's out of sorts at home, and she knows it, going out of her way to avoid everyone in order to keep from snapping their ( Read more... )

[Barracks, you say? Melanie happens to be going through that area when she spots Rogue beating the hell out of that post. She's all for training and whatnot, but when your fists start bleeding, one may want to consider stopping for a bit.]

You know, you might want to take it easy before you hurt yourself even more.

[Seriously, is there no where she can go in this town to get a few minute's mindless release? Rogue glares at the interloper over her shoulder.]

You might wanna mind your own business.

[Evidently, privacy is something she just won't be getting today.]

Was just making a suggestion. But hey, if you want to keep pounding your fists to a bloody pulp, go right ahead.

[Rogue huffs and otherwise ignores her.

In other words, yeah, she really does want to keep pounding her fists into a bloody pulp.]

[Suit yourself, Rogue. Melanie moves on, mumbling something about how she's somehow reminded of Gotham.

Well, it's mainly the people in Gotham that Rogue has reminded her of - all too often the people there take things a bit too far, in both big and small ways. Still, all Rogue is doing is getting her knuckles raw and bloody, and while Melanie certainly thinks that's going far for practice... well, she's already said her piece.

As it is, Melanie didn't originally come here to suggest something. No, she originally headed here to work off some steam of her own. This place may have given her a new start, but they messed with her DNA against her will and she still isn't back to normal. She's got Kurt's holo-watch, which she's grateful for, but the fact that she's still some kind of snake thing has her feeling more than a bit bitter. So, what the hell. May as well take that frustration on a post while she's at it.]

[Plenty of posts in the barracks. Knock yourself out.

Rogue will be more than happy to continue on ignoring you.

Unless, of course, you do something extraordinary. Or it feels like the cuts in her knuckles start splitting down to bone and she has to stop and heal her knuckles before going back to the post.]

[Unfortunately, Melanie isn't all that extraordinary. A skilled fighter, sure, but not to the point where it'd be distracting. Besides, Rogue has made it clear that she's intent on hurting herself. Stupid as Melanie thinks it is, she'll leave her be.

There are a few minutes of nothing but Melanie punching and kicking the hell out of the post she's currently at.

... Or so it goes until her hand slips and the watch bangs against that post.]

Slag it!

[It isn’t broken or anything like that, but the hologram flickers and Melanie is back to looking like the spliced snake-person she’s currently stuck as. There’s some irritated grumbling as she fiddles with it, quickly getting it to go back to making her look like she normally does. As much as she dislikes the idea of anybody seeing her like... well, that, she threw a bad punch and there’s no changing that. Whatever. She’s back to looking normal which means it’s back to attacking that post.]

[...not quick enough.

Rogue's eyes narrow, not at the snakelike skin, but...]

Where'd you get that watch?

The Malnosso sent me back looking less than human, so a friend let me borrow it until the effect wears off.

[Melanie's not sure if Rogue is so interested because the watch intrigues her or because she actually knows Kurt - but whatever, she'll answer anyway.]

His name's Kurt.
