I worked 5 hours today. I could've worked more, but I didn't. I always feel guilty when I'm not doing something at work, it feels like stealing. I think it's because I know the owner pretty well and he used to work with my Dad. Anyway I try to think of it of dead time as a time of low productivity and when I was working that was higher than average ( Read more... )

I understand you wanting to make a wise decision financially, but you should consider where you will get the best education. By education I don't mean training or preparation for a job, but actualy education about the world in which you live. Where will you be able to explore, discover and discuss all elements of your society and culture? This may not mean a whole lote to you, but one thing about my school that I love so dearly is that they aren't all focused on a career path and training - we are educated and we learn across the disciplines! Good luck with your choice!

Man. I would say that wherever you go, you can always transfer. for undergrad stuff it might be smartest just to go to the cheapest, especially if you are going to grad school. have a good time? You will get an experience no matter where you go! And...yay have fun!

First of all, your college experience is exactly what you make of it. You can have a wonderful, college-y time at Washburn and you can have a boring, unstimulating time at K-State. It depends entirely on what you do with yourself.

That being said, I'd say pick the college that has the "feel" that fits you the best. Because while I theoretically believe I could get a good education anywhere, I love the kind of people who are attracted to Hillsdale. Does that make sense? I want to spend time with people who are drawn to Hillsdale because of the same reasons I am. We have things in common, we have similar goals concerning our education, similar values, and so forth. I, personally, am so glad that I chose the "financially unwise" college because all of the non-pecuniary benefits far exceed the cost to me. Of course, I'm saying that right now when I'm not actually having to pay off any loans. So none of this is decisive advice - it's just stuff to consider.
