Last night was my company Christmas party. But before that starts lets back up to the afternoon yesterday. I got back from teh field around noon and went to get lunch with Ian and Rob, other field techs, and killed a good portion of the afternoon. Around 330 the now famous Best Beer of the World competition took place. Our president Ravi went out and got wings and chips and salsa from Chili's. There were approximately 6 of us judges required to imbibe a minimum of 8 beers a piece. This presents a larger challenge then one would think. It was tough to actually grade some of the beers. It was a most enjoyable time however and it was good to bond with some of the other employees I hadn'tyet had the opportunity to really talk to before. I then made my way home for my friend Jaque was coming up from the south side of Philly to accompany me to my companys party. She got lost making her way to my apartment as everyone does. I was unfortunate enough to get home just prior to her arrival so I managed to get teh last of my cleaning completed while I was directing her to my apartment.

The trip to the party was just as eventful because we managed to get lost and arrive 30 minutes late. However, we were not the only ones as several of my coworkers succombed to similar fates. The party itself was most excellent as we had an open bar and quite the selection of foods. I went nuts with the cheese table, but its cheese and cheese is fan-freakin-tastic. I sat with the few field staff members who were present, but we laughed and harassed each other and other staff members around us. The open bar has its positives and negatives to it, more positives then negatives I must say. My company's president got sufficiently wasted as did many of us. The conversations I had with people were priceless. Ravi, the president, kept telling me how every one loved me and how glad they were that they hired me. Iain my one project manager whom I asked to give me a reccommendation for graduate school and Jamie the guy who essentially got me the job and I were talking at the bar and Iain was asking me about when I was going to get teh letters and they told me they were glad I wasn't leaving yet cause there was a lot they wanted me to work on before I go. I informed them that I still had to get in and get funding before I could even consider going to school. Both Jamie and Iain informed me that from what they could tell of my abilities and hardworking nature that there is no way I wouldn't get in nad would most likely get funding. Its nice to have supportive people around you.

We then had a raffle for prizes, everyone in the company who attended the party won something. However I was lucky enough to be one of the 2 people not called for a prize, for what reasons I do not know. I was lucky enough to get one of the two remaining gifts. A bag with body spray, shower gel, body lotion and a poof. In addition to this the last people to get prizes from each table had to get up and act like asses for everyone elses enjoyment. Luckily I was 5 rum-n-cokes into the night at this point. So as we danced around the party hee-hawing and acting like fools we got a round of applause, and I could not stop laughing. For doing this we were awarded the snowmen center pieces on our tables. This worked out well because I had already decided to steal them. As the night went on and I had my last and 7th rum-n-coke we began to get a little goofier. Rob and I dedicated Brittany Spears's Toxic to our health and saftey director. I stole all the cookies, much to Julie's dismay. Rob rounded up all the candy kanes which are in a heap on my coffee table and we went around and claimed all the unclaimed candies from around the ballroom. I also took it upon myself to gather up some of the glass stemware from the tables in addition to a bunch of silverware. Apparently the cleptomaniac in me comes out during excessive drinking.

All in all it wasn't a terrible night and I rather enjoy the people I work with. I consider myself lucky to have gotten this position and will have a difficult time leaving teh company when I get into grad school.
