Alright guys..to those who havent heard already, big news!
At approximately 1 A.M. this morning, Kathleen Hanna gave me a hug. Thats right, Le Tigre Kathleen Hanna. Bikini Kill Kathleen Hanna. I think I am gunna pass out of excitement. Hahahaha.
First off, the show was amazing. Cannonball Jane opened, and I didnt really like her too much...The bass was too low, and I didnt really like her voice.
Next, Lesbians on Ecstacy played. They kicked total ass. Much better than the last time we saw them, I LOVED their show this time. They really got the crowd going wild. It was funny, becuase before the show started Garrett and I pissed right in front of them...They were standing in the boys bathroom, and we were using the urinals. Random, but awesome. Hahaha.
Finally, Le Tigre were amazing....I was up front and center, its a shame I forgot my camera. Oh well. The energy in the crowd was crazy. I was right in the middle of a mini mosh pit, and it was wicked fun to dance around in it. They played a great set, though a bit shorter than the last show I saw them I think. During the show, I blew Kathleen a kiss and she returned the deed. I felt so special. (I am an obsessive dork, I know)
Afterwards we felt like waiting around to talk to the band....so Garrett, Hannah, and I met these really cool people and waited with them outside the dressing room until the security people told us we had to leave. I was a little bummed, becuase I wanted to say hi to the band and asked if they remembered us (The people who gave them monkeys), but we left and went to chinese a few blocks away. I wasnt hungry, and I had a feeling that If I went back to the venue I might get lucky....so I ran back to the place and waited for a few minutes with 4 other people I didnt know, and sure enough, first JD and Jo came out but were not in the mood for talking, so they just got on the tour bus. Then, Kathleen came out and I, in utter star struckness, could only manage to exclaim "You were awesome!!!" and then she hugged me. It made my night. No....my life. Then, the kids with me asked to get a picture with her, so she said yup, and pulled me into the picture. So somewhere on some lucky persons camera is a picture of Kathleen standing next to a completely dazed and stupified Ian. She was like "Now we are permanent friends, cause we are in a picture together!" (I thought this was a pretty odd thing to say, but really cute too!) Finally, I asked her if she remembered the monkeys and she laughed and said yes, but she hadnt checked her email yet....so our ridiculous story about the lesbian feminist monkeys hasnt even reached the band yet. After that, I said I had to leave becuase my friends were gunna ditch me in New Haven, and I ran off to catch everyone. God damn, I am a happy man.
Sorry for blabbering...I had to tell everyone, because I am too stoked.
Peace.
