[Action | Jump City]

It's been a couple of weeks since last speaking to Robin and Persephone does not mind one bit (or, at least, she's pretending that she doesn't). Their argument has given her the push to actually make the return to Jump City, but without Ivy to give her some sort of direction, the goddess' attempts at doing anything evil have resulted in petty ( Read more... )

For a gardening supply store, this has an awful lot of security. Robin wouldn't be surprised if this had something to do with the fact that with the Iron Queen's return to Jump City, gardeners around the city had rushed en masse to the alarm store. This system's not good enough to keep him out of course -- but it is good enough he has to concentrate on disarming it. Don't want Slade's robots to trigger a security call out after all -- caught robbing a gardening store? The embarrassment.

Robin's too busy contemplating how hard that would be to live down, when he hears a noise behind him. Before he can react he's greeted by a very familiar voice. Persephone! He relaxes -- then remembers they're not friends any more.

"Me."

At least with Persephone there's no embarrassment about robbing a gardening store -- or maybe not.

She smirks and an eyebrow behind her mask.

"How cute. Slade has a new hobby?"

At least Persephone doesn't think it likely that Robin has taken up a new hobby. Robin gives Persephone his best unimpressed stare. "Not likely -- this is more for his old hobby."

It's met with one of her own. "Really."

Vines twine nonchalantly around her feet, curling lazily across the floor and up some nearby shelves. "Unfortunately he's stepped into my territory and that just means I'm going to have to defend it, now aren't I?"

Robin snorts. "Hardly your territory, is it?" It might not be smart to taunt a goddess in a store full of potential weapons -- those African violets were looking particularly hostile -- but Robin was still nursing hurt from their last encounter.

"I've been around a lot longer than you, little boy. I think it is well within my right to stake my claim." Nevermind the African violets -- it's the Venus fly trap he might want to be looking out for. It's slowly growing in size as the goddess concentrates her energy toward it.

"Slade's got plans for the city," Robin returns, unimpressed. "He's not going to let anything stop him." He gives the Venus Fly Trap a sideways look. "Speaking of, I haven't finished disabling security. Attack me now, you'll have to deal with Jump's finest."

"So? It would be worth it, having one less pest to deal with," Persephone smiles pretty, but the fly trap holds off. As angry as she is with him, she doesn't want to see him dead or horribly injured.

Even now, Persephone doesn't get it. Robin reminds himself that's not his problem any more -- she's made it clear she doesn't want his friendship. He turns back to the security system silently.

For just a moment, Persephone feels a pang of regret -- their argument, what she just said. But then the anger flares up again and she draws herself up, plants towering with her. "Do not turn your back on me."

"I'm good," Robin says amused, as he continues to work on the security system. "But not good enough I can do this without looking at it. Sorry, Queen."

She deflates and the plants retreat. Her voice is still heavy with fury, but it's laced with something else -- sorrow, regret? "Fine. Then I will be over - over there."

Robin keeps his amusement at this firmly to himself -- she hasn't changed one bit. The thought makes him feel sad somehow, cutting away at that amusement. "So--"

The goddess is over poking through the seeds and when Robin starts to talk again, she looks up at him, startled. "So..?"

Robin shakes his head. "Doesn't matter." He'd forgotten they weren't talking.

"If you have something to say, then say it," Persephone snaps.
