I think I can say that GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra marks the unofficial end of Summer movies. It has been a long and dry one. There isn’t many good movies out this summer, nothing as impressive as last year’s TDK (ok, standard is too high). The only movies that I truly enjoyed and feeling giddy after watching it would be Star Trek. The rest are just so-so. Harry Potter and Transformers are not even that good. Some good comedies like Hang over and I Love You Man were quite fun. But overall, the only movie that stood out most probably are Star Trek and UP (I haven’t watched this yet, but I believe the reviews for this one, it’s going to be really good).
So I just watched GI Joe last night. I would rate it as entertaining. It was action packed with Channing Tatum as the lead ( I am weak at heart after seeing him topless). It wasn’t boring for sure, since the action was always there (with some high technology military gadgetry), and I smelled a sequel at the end. On random note, I watched the trailer of Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, looks quite interesting. Brad Pitt is in that movie, and I am not a big fan of him, but the premise looks very interesting.
Summer is ending and the Fall season is around the corner. Some Fall movies I am interested:
Fame
Sherlock Holmes
New Moon (d’oh)
2012 (may beeee)
Must buy the EW Fall movie guide once it’s out
Ps: I saw Scorcese’s Shutter Island (with Leo diCaprio) and Aang the last Airbender trailers (apparently it’s directed by Night Shymalan???)
