I didn't read the manga, so don't hold me under that. I'll summarize it: It's about two college-aged guys, Kei Kurono and Masaru Kato who get htit by a train when helping a drunk man off the tracks. They immediately find themselves in some apartment in Tokyo with other people who have all claimed that they have died. Also in that room is a giant black ball with a man inside- Gantz. Gantz gives them the order to kill off aliens. By day, they are in their normal lives, by night, they are transported to various places, killing aliens but hoping not to be killed themselves.
I could tell this was originally a manga. I'm sure in the manga, there would be a bit more of a detailed plotline. I felt that this movie was too short, maybe because this was only part one. This movie doesn't water down the guts and blood in this one. Ninomiya was great, as always (looking awesome in that black suit). This was my first Kenichi Matsuyama :) If anyone reading this says, "oh I know what you're talking about, I watched it in North America dubbed", then you're wrong. You should know to watch it subbed if you have the chance. Acting isn't ust through the face and body but how the deliver the words.
It was thrilling. I went "Holy Shit!" a couple times. But I think I could really be able to get a feeling for it after I watch part two, which came out April? Yeah.
For someone who didn't read the manga, I liked it :) It was different than what I usually watch, so it was nice to see something else for a change.
