I've always loved
La Luice rabbit bags as long as I've been in lolita. If you're unfamiliar with them, they're one of the iconic old school accessories that was the alternative to Kumya or Moitie bags that every japanese lolita seemed to have back in the early 2000's. Made of lace fabric, they were adorned with additional ruffles of lace and almost resembled folk dolls in their design. I especially loved them since they had a very handmade look to them and were surprisingly roomy!
These bags came in two sizes: medium sized (the size of a standard purse) or large sized (the size of a backpack). I scoured the net for these bags every time i came across them and was continually disappointed when i couldn't find a reliable site to purchase them from. Fast forward to a decade later and i found myself still longing for these bags! But finally, FINALLY, i was able to get my hands on this
dream item! I was ecstatic! Yet while i really do love these bags, I just couldn't help wishing for a cat version. Enter
Dreamy Pebble.
Dreamy Pebble is an American seamstress/illustrator that specializes in lolita fashion. She makes adorable commission-based accessories that rage from gothic to sweet styles. My favorite are her coffin headdresses, this awesome cross scarf she's made, and really, anything black accessories. Her comissions are limited so she's only able to take a few each month and for a while she was on haitus. I didn't really know about her until she made a La Luice-style bag...in a cat version!!!
I think her cats are so adorable! They follow the La Lauice style with the rows of lace for the skirt, the ribbon on the legs, and the type of fabric for the body. Best of all, they're customizable! I was finally able to snag a comission spot and immediately placed my order for one of the bags.
For my comission, I asked if she could do a cat around the theme of roses, crosses, and velvet. Communication was fantastic and we hashed out the details within a few direct messages. The bag with shipping was around $230 which I thought was a bit pricey. But when I got my bag, the price was definitely justifiable! The quality is amazing: tight stitches, great design, and overall just a beautiful bag!
Details. I did end up adding some bits to it like a lace flower on the hairclip, some rose buttons that I knew were hard to source, and replacing the nose with velvet fabric just to make the velvet a little more cohesive. The lace combination on the doll is wonderful and kept to the theme I had asked her to follow. The cross charm on the removable collar mimicked the cross lace she used. The velvet ribbons are perfect and just made her ever so elegant! My only gripe about the bag are the ends of the lace in the back. For the amount it cost, I would've expected the lace to either have a rolled hem or finished with a serger.
All in all, I had a very positive experience with this Dreamy Pebble and was happy with my comission. The doll bag was exactly as I pictured she would be and would perfectly blend with my other La Luice items. I would definitely comission her again but be more specific on cerain aspects that I really want (especially on the minute details like buttons and accessories). Would definitely recommend!
