ACCESSORIES: Wahoo, finished the set! The hat took the longest to do. This is the second time I've ever made
a hat from scratch and I think I did waaaay better the second time around. It's still a little bit heavier than what I would've liked, but not terribly so. The rest of the accessories were easier to do since they're less complicated: a two-way rosette and a pin-on bow.
DETAILS: The hat was originally going to be taller but after checking the height, it was a little too high for what I wanted. Also, since I messed up on the measurements, one side of the brim was wider than what I wanted. To fix this, I decided to flip the shorter brim up and added the bow on the folded end. To give it some interest, I went with a double bow to match the cream on the dress. Then it was just about adding a pleasing floral arrangement on each side of the bow with the majority of the flowers on the back side of the hat. I was going to add a ruffle of lace under the bow but I think that would've been too much.
DETAILS: The rosette was considerably easier to do. I had to play around with the leaves in the back and had to monitor how the glue was drying in order for the flowers and greenery to stay where I wanted them to be. Then I added a dual clip so that I can wear it a bunch of different ways. This is probably one of my favorite findings ever!
COORDINATE: Here's a different styling for
Miss Madeline. I must be dreaming of cold weather since I busted out the cardigan for this coord. I was afraid that the hat would stray too far into Edwardian territory but I'm actually quite pleased with it. I also like the fact that almost all the accessories for Miss Madeline isn't set inclusive and will be usable for different dresses besides this one! Yay versatility!
