review: chérie cerise

Chérie Cerise is one of my all-time favorite brands when it comes to indie shops. The level of detail that she puts into her clothing and the fact that she offers custom sizes is one of the reasons why I keep coming back and purchasing many beautiful dresses. Although the selection is limited, the designs that she has are both elegant and whimsical at the same time.

The first time I saw this dress was back in 2017 with the release of her first version of the Lace & Bees JSK. I really wanted to get the dress solely for the fact that it had bees on it with a damask design. I decided to hold off as the cut wasn't really to my liking and a year after she introduced the princess cut version in June 2019. Once I had enough savings oh, I reached out to her earlier this January to see if she was able to do a custom size for the second version in the black colorway.

To my delight, she responded for the positive and after discussing measurements in payment the dress is scheduled to be done and shipped by March. Unfortunately, covid-19 hit and production was delayed. A few months went by and after a few more delays due to her health, the dress was finally shipped and received by last week, early August.

While it was a extremely long wait for the dress, I am deliriously happy with what I received! It is exactly how I pictured it would be, with beautiful details, beautiful lace, and beautiful printed fabric. The fabric itself has striped weave and as silky and smooth to the touch. The tailoring is exceptional with no loose threads and the fit is perfect.

I'm so sad that, due to the pandemic, Chérie Cerise is experiencing a lot of delays due to being located in Chile. Apparently because of the shutdown, the materials that she used to accent the dress it's hard to come by but hopefully when the pandemic passes she will go back to her usual production times. Being an indie brand, I hope that Chérie Cerise can continue to exist and that people can enjoy her lovely dresses!
