The weekend after his birthday, Skye calls pretty much everyone he's ever met and invites them to this place for his birthday party. Which, thanks to Cory's genius, is a masquerade complete with live band and fancy-ass ballroom

Jamie shows up adorned in blue and gold with this matching mask "Skye, darling. This is fabulous. Everything looks... holy shit. I've never been to a party this facet before."

Later in the evening Gabe arrives and spotting Jamie he grabs a drink and goes over to say hello.

"How's it going, Jamie?"

[queen_jamie]

He turns and smiles when he hears that voice. "Gabe! Hi.... wow you look nice. Things are great. This party is super cool. It's good to see you here."

[gabe_bryan]

"Nice?" Jamie gets a bemused sort of smile to that.

Gabe finishes his drink and puts the empty glass on a nearby surface.

"I'm glad you're having a good time."

[queen_jamie]

"I was gonna say sexy, but..." Jamie smirks, taking a sip of his own drink. "Everyone looks really creative"

He nods, glancing around. "I wanted my mask to match all my gold. What do you think?" He does a little twirl.

"Shiny," Gabe straightens his own suit. "Yeah, I didn't go for creative."

[queen_jamie]

"That's okay, darling. You still look fabulous." Jamie can't resist the kiss to Gabe's cheek. Friends can still do that. "I'm glad you're here."

[gabe_bryan]

He really didn't need the reassurance, not about his appearance at any rate.

"Thanks, Kiddo. I won't stay for long, enough time to wish the birthday boy his happy returns and then I'll be pumpkining I'm afraid."

Oh, he knows. But he still wants to compliment Gabe. He deserves it.

"Aww, how come? Where are you off to? This party is gonna be awesome."

[gabe_bryan]

So many potential reasons why he's not going to be the last one standing tonight but he goes with the easiest which is currently the most pressing, anyway.

"Robert turned up at work today, he's supposed to be in London, but here he is, he's run away from home, it seems, right into the arms of his mid life crisis. And as such his mid life crisis should probably pay the man a little attention until he comes to his senses and goes back to his wife and his job and, you kniw, his life."

[queen_jamie]

"Oh. Wow. That sounds.... shit, are you gonna be okay handling all that? Do you need any help with anything?" Because Jamie is always up to help.

[gabe_bryan]

"I'm not upset or worried," he sounds bemused, "and I'm not sure what help you're offering."

[queen_jamie]

"Oh, just... mid life crisis stuff. Sounds intense." he shrugs. "I'm your friend. Just though I could lend a hand."

[gabe_bryan]

"I was kidding, being flippant." Is there anything worse than having to explain your humour? "Robert is fine. A big baby hiding from his life and his wife and sulking I went out without him but, well, I was hardly going to let the bastard come."

[queen_jamie]

"....Oh. I'm sorry. I thought he was going through a hard time. I never know these days." He gives a small smile. "Well it was extremely cool of you to show up at all. Skye will be thrilled, I'm sure."

[gabe_bryan]

"Don't fret, I don't think that many people get my sense of humour."

Gabe smiles.

"Thats me, incredibly cool."
