This is an extremely cool piece of software. It streams your media (music, videos, photos) through the internet and can be shown on anything with a browser. This is particularly handy for listening to music at work, but it can also be used to play videos from your computer on your TV using a modern game console (Wii, Xbox 360, etc).

Setup is very easy and the documentation seems to be good. Once you put it in and give it a chance to scan your media, you set up an account and then go to whatever you want to access your media on and point your browser to https://mycast.orb.com, login, and have at it.

Using a browser like Firefox or IE will bring up a nifty AJAX interface that feels like an application. It tries to detect when you are using a portable device or game console and then brings up a large font, easy media center interface (incidentally it defaults to this if you open it in Opera). Apparently you need some decent hardware to stream videos effectively, but I haven’t tried it yet. It streams music from my laptop (which is using wireless) across the Interweb to my PC at work very well though.
