I guess the City wasn't exactly worried about whether people were scrooges or not before they started sending visions of the past to people.

Holidays are about tradition, a lot of times. What sorts of traditions do you all have around this time of year?

Watching bad movies and popcorn throwing battles with hot chocolate.

That's a pretty good tradition.

Isn't it? Except this year things will probably be pretty different. With the absence of certain people and all.

Yeah, you've got more people too, don't you? Just enough time to make some friends to start new Christmas traditions.

So when are you going to take me out to a nice place to eat?

Can I ask you something?

Hopefully.

Well. Dawn was totally biased. Not my fault.

..Fine. When are you free?

Sure. Ask away.

I'm free Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening.

Your abilities, did you have to train to learn how to use them?

Like clockwork? Do you have a job or something?

That question has kind of got a long story behind it.

Just this week. And I do, I work at Dr. Jones' clinic.

I just... I want to train with my abilities, learn to be more effective with them, but I don't know how.

Oh yeah. You're a nurse, right?

I don't really think I can help you with that, honestly. See, my powers are kind of...passed down, if that makes sense. There's always one Slayer in the world. And when they die, their spirit and powers, along with the ones from every other Slayer in history, as passed down to another girl. I got mine when I was 15.

But we did train. With weapons, and mostly for hand to hand combat, although sometimes we did spells. And apparently there's a handbook, not that I ever got one.

Yeah, back home I did hospice, but here I help out at the clinic.

Oh, so in a way you already knew how to use them?

What's hospice?

Kind of. Every Slayer has a Watcher. They're basically assigned to find the new Slayer and explain everything to them, and also to supervise their training.

But I guess it would be harder for you, not knowing what was going on.

You care for the terminally ill. Basically you try and make their last few months or weeks as comfortable as possible.

Yeah, there's not really many people I can turn to for help with training in my world.

Oh.

That's really...

I mean, how did you deal with it? Being around the dying every day.

I could help you. Or at least, I could try.

Well, it's usually one patient at a time you care for. And I don't know, it's nice seeing them at peace, and their family is happy that their last time on earth is happy.

I'd appreciate any help at all.

Wasn't it depressing?

We can try some different things out? And you really don't need to worry about injuries or anything. I normally heal most things in a half a day or so.

Not really. I mean, there's already lots of things in the world to be sad about and I guess I wouldn't be sad about them dying if I never got to know them through caring for them but... I'd rather have known them and lost them than not know them at all.

We could check out the Underground? I've heard there's lots of monsters down there. Or the forest.
