Movies of 2007.

It's New Years and as is tradition I am awake all night so...

Here it is boys and girls! TotallyForgot's lovely list of movies in 2007. Or at least the ones I found worth mention.

Now, there were plenty of great movies this year, plenty of very succesful, popular movies, but I'd like to focus on A. movies that came out more recently, and B. weren't as well known. So while Transformers, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Pirates of the Carribean at World's End, 300, and many others were entirely awesome, I shall skip them in this little list.

Possible spoilers. I can't be sure.

First(!) on the list (as it is the first to come to mind)- Death At a Funeral

Hillariously funny and plain witty, I loved this movie. To begin with Matthew MacFadyen (of Pride and Prejudice fame) plays the lead, the son of the deceased and frustrated writer, always a plus. Then we have Alan Tudyk (Firefly anyone?) who plays such a marvelous character as to keep you laughing the whole movie. And to top it off we have Kris Marshall (My Family), making for a desirable cast, in my opinion.

This picture should really just say it all.

Next is Eastern Promises, seriously amazing.

We've got Viggo Morensen and Naomi Watts on this one. The movie is really violent (I mean come on, it's the Russian mafia, that's as hardcore as you can get) but not enough to make me cringe (few things do). There was a nearly gratuitous scene of a skyclad Viggo, but it fit the movie and it made sense, so it was okay. Still, that was more of Aragorn than I ever really needed to see.

Also, am I the only one who really wanted her jacket?

What's next? Let's see... The Invisible.

A lot of people were dissapointed with this movie because it wasn't really what the trailers made it out to be but I saw it with no previous ideas on it, and it was great. It's not some horror flick, and it's not totally a mystery, but it is deep (in it's own way) and way cool. There was some great acting Justin Chatwin's (War of the Worlds) and Margarita Levieva's parts.

Such dynamic.

Now, this one's been nominated for 7 Golden Globes, and it deserves them all, Atonement.

Let's start by saying the Keira Knightely and James McAvoy are amazing in their own right, but this movie makes them spectacular. It's not a sappy romance, it's a drama with many aspects. Some characters make you want to jump in the movie and pull their hair till they cry, other's make you want to hug them, for a long time. And I didn't really expect the ending at all.

Beautiful.

I saw this one today, actually, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.

It's a cute film to watch with your family and funny in its own right. Dustin Hoffman is very believable as the magical Mr. Magorium, after which the movie and store are named, and Natalie Portman is a dream as always. But, my favorite was Zach Mills, awesome kid, and a sock monkey I really, really want. There's also a cameo by Kermit the Frog.

This room is so cool.

Sunshine is next on the list.

Alright so some parts took a little while to get, it was a pretty cool movie. Like the new SciFi. Cillian Murphy does a good job, as do all the other actors. And it's fitting that Johnny Storm would be going to the sun, right?

Uh oh. Trouble on board.

From SciFi to Fantasy, Stardust makes the list.

I'm a sucker for a fantasy, and an action-adventure, but, this movie also had comedy to it. Even a few ghosts. The main character, Tristan (Charlie Cox) grows up from a simple, bumbling village boy to an adventurer, with a new snazzy wardrobe! Plus, it's narrated by Ian McKellen and Robert De Niro plays a pirate named Shakespeare, what more do you want?

There's more to this guy than meets the eye.

Now onto something a little more serious, Lions for Lambs.

Right there you see Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, and Tom Cruise (I love his acting and couldn't give a damn about his private life), quite the line-up. The movie deals with three sets of people, all involved in the war and politics. As a student interested in both journalism and polysci (the two careers focused on) this one made me really think, like it hit home.

Great movie.

I've probably forgotten a dozen or so, but I'll have to add them later because I can't think of any more.

This was meant to be only about GOOD movies I liked, but I just watched Silent Hill and had to put this up.
The movie is hardly worth watching (but everyone has different styles). It was pointless, nearly plotless, and just a tad strange (like barbed wire up your nether-regions strange, mhm). The graphics were sloppy and the religious zealots were annoying to no end. The only thing this movie had going for it was Sean Bean, the ONLY thing.
And...

wtf is this guy? Seriously.
