Haven't made too many public posts lately...
Things have been really, really crazy, and are only about to get crazier. I got a reprieve this weekend by going out to Yosemite and meeting up with Lucy and her cousin Christine. We made a fire and talked too loud at night and had a damn good time... she's still out there and will be til mid-September, so depending on how things go in the next couple weeks, I might go back. Got in on Friday night, got yelled at by some dude for being too loud (ok who the fuck goes camping and falls asleep at 10pm?!!!). Spent Saturday hiking around at Tenaya lake and Olmstead Point. I took off my pants and went wading in the lake... so fucking beautiful. Lucy got some great pictures of me sitting on a rock in the middle of the lake, looking out into the distance. My favorite part was the park ranger coming up to us and asking us to put our joint out and give him a hit from our pipe instead "because of fire risk". LMAO! I got to see star clouds for the first time on Friday night. I've never seen so many stars in my life. Sadly it was raining ALL NIGHT on Saturday so no stars then. But, Lucy, being the awesome pyro she is, made a HUGE fire and no matter how hard it rained, the fucker would not go out. Kept us warm all night. She was also awesome enough to let me sleep in her tent while she slept in her cousin's tent. Her tent was NICE and had one of those rain flaps that extends all the way to the ground, so none of my stuff got wet. It was so god damn beautiful out there....
Rob started a new job up in Sausalito yesterday. Sausalito is 60mi from where we live now; it's across the Golden Gate Bridge. Rob is a non-driver. So I got the pleasure of taking him up and back yesterday, which ironically I didn't mind. I got to nap at the harbor, walk around downtown Sausalito, and take a really really nice hike up a hill to get a beautiful view of the bay on one side and the canyon on the other. Somebody left a leather couch at the top of the mountain, where I sat and observed for a while. At one point, a huge pack of dogs come running up to me, panting and barking and licking my face. They were so freakin cute! I had no idea where they came from... they were just rolling in the grass, happy as could be. Finally I hear someone shouting for them and it turns out they were with a dog walker. I called my mom to just share my view since I happened to be sitting 20ft from a cell tower. :-P Only in the Bay Area can you hike up a mountain in your little black dress and get perfect cell reception.
Today I drove Rob up to work but he's taking public transpo back tonight. We'll see how that goes. On my way home I decided to stop at the beach. I had never gone down to the ocean in SF before, even though I've been at the Cliffhouse there on Ocean Beach a bazillion times. So I took my shoes off, tied my skirt up and went wading in the cold water at 9am. It felt more refreshing than Barton Springs! Seriously, SO nice. Everyone was stunned I was wading in the water considering all the surfers were wearing body suits and everyone else had a hoodie on. While I was there, another dog found me and wanted to play fetch. Her name was Billie, according to her collar, and we spent a good hour tossing the ball and chasing each other in the water. I think her owner was one of the surfers; she'd run up to this green towel sitting on the sand and would wait patiently there. At least, I really hope her owner was there. She was such a great dog.
Then I get home to find my one of my cats have shat on the floor and peed on the couch AGAIN. :( That pretty well sums up my life right now. I go out, see beautiful things, and then I get to come home to some shit. Working on that last part.
These small outings though have been a god send. I was losing my mind here in the valley. The one thing I really adore about California is living so close to so many different and equally beautiful kinds of nature. But being here in this smog-bowl of a valley is wearing on me.
Righto, off to go post some pics of my recent adventures on Flickr & Facebook...
