Shock horror!

....I didn't hate him.

I didn't like him either, but I don't hate him. He certainly has less of the buffoonery than his brother.
Though he did make a hilarious (and slightly frightening) Freudian Slip where he accidentally referenced a poll on prisoners votes as a poll on the death penalty.

And he was trying to make some ridiculous point that higher tuition fees means greater social mobility, he had some statistics that showed that in countries where there are no tuition fees, the percentage of people going to university whose parents had not gone to university was a lot lower than the countries with high tuition fees. Someone took him up on this and said, surely that's because the previous generation could all afford to go to university, because they didn't have to pay the fees either. He didn't have a response to this.

He was also completely clueless when someone asked him to 'imagine he was from a low income family' and whether he would be more disposed to going to university with the increase in fees. I don't think he could imagine being from a low-income family.

But I'm being mostly negative here, he did make some good points, but I find it hard to work out what is the truth when both sides of the argument are biased against each other, the Tories will gloss over the negative parts, and the opposition will bring out all the negative points and completely ignore any benefits. I find it very hard to understand what is actually going on, and to actually form my own viewpoint because i'm so ill-informed, and even though I do have a predisposition to distrust and dislike the Tories, i know the opposition isn't totally truthful either.

EDIT:

also, today at school in graphics, i was on the internet researching David Bowie for my project, and i went on flickr (which is blocked in our school FOR NO APPARENT REASON. Apparently it's social networking wtf) through loginfreedom to view this collection of sketches by different comic artists of David Bowie. So while I was doing this totally justified thing, this window popped up with the title 'New message' and in this box was typed 'Should you really be on flickr?' AND I WAS FREAKED OUT. So i tried to type into this box 'Yes, I'm researching David Bowie for my graphics project' but it wouldn't let me type, and the cursor started moving of its own accord and clicked the close button on the tab.

OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD.
seriously, do I have no privacy? THE IT GUYS COULD REMOTELY CONNECT TO AND VIEW AND CONTROL MY ACTIONS ON THE COMPUTER. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. THIS IS SOME GEORGE ORWELL SHIT, MAN.

The rest of the class were dicking around on their computers, playing games and shit, AND I WAS LEGITAMATELY TRYING TO WORK. I had the right mind to go over to the IT copuourd and go 'YES. YES I SHOULD BE ON FLICKR YOU DICKS, WHY THE FUCK IS IT BLOCKED ANYWAY, SHOULD YOU BE INVADING OUR PRIVACY AND WATCHING WHAT WE'RE DOING ON OUT COMPUTERS AND LISTENING TO  SHIT MUSIC WHICH IS TOO LOUD AND IS DISTRACTING US FROM OUR WORK?'

Anyway I showed Nasreen who was sitting next to me what had happened with this box and everything and then I was like 'LOL, imagine if i'd got a message saying 'should you really be looking at jewnicorns?'' and then we couldn't stop laughing for fucking aaaages. So there was an upside to this. But seriously, if they can see what we're doing on the internet, that's just wrong. I presume it was flagged up to them somehow b/c I accessed it via loginfreedom and flickr is normally blocked... BUT STILL. I AM NOT LIKING THIS SHIT

Also, talking of jewnicorns, I HAVE AN EPIC JEWNICORN WEEKEND PLANNED.
My social network dvd arrived today so tomorrow i'm going to watch it with the commentary and I'm also going to see Never Let Me Go in the evening. On Sunday it's the Baftas and also lovefilm has just informed me that it's posting me The Squid and the Whale so hopefully i'll get that tomorrow and can watch that on Sunday. And of course i'll be spamming them on tumblr too.

school, politics, jewnicorns in love, jo johnson
