I haven't updated in ages for a variety of reasons. I'll get around to a real one in a little while. But I figured that this little survey fit me to a tee and I couldn't pass it up. Enjoy.
1. Of all the bands/artists in your cd/record collection, which one do you own the most albums by?: The Supersuckers (12) AC/DC (9) and The Hellacopters (8)
2.What was the last song you listened to?: My Generation- The Patti Smith Group
3. What's on your record player right now?: Since I don't even a record player the CD currently playing is The Essential Jerry Reed.
4. What song would you say sums you up?: I have never really thought about this before so I don't have an answer.
5. What's your favorite local band?: This is a tough question as I have a lot that I really like around here (well KC actually). Of the past it is HANDS DOWN Cretin 66. Currently I would have to say it's a toss up between Pendergast, The Federation of Horsepower, Architects, Split Lip Rayfield, and probably The Roman Numerals.
6. What was the last show you attended? The Eudoras and Dare Diablo last night at the Replay. I just stumbled in on this one as my original plan was to sit at the bar and get drunk over the fact that I got hosed on seeing the Pixies last night. The plan worked well enough, there just happen to be a show a going on also.
7. What was the greatest show you've ever been to? There's been a few really good ones over the years for me. Ozzfest this summer with Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Slayer and some others. The Supersuckers last spring at Davey's. Pennywise and The Joykiller at the Bottleneck many moons ago. The Del McCoury Band and Split Lip Rayfield at the Bottleneck. Rev. Horton Heat, Nashville Pussy and Split Lip Rayfield at the Granda a couple of years back. I don't see many bad ones these days because I'm to poor for that to happen.
8. What's the shittiest band you've ever seen in concert? When I was in MI6 4 or 5 years ago we got the opportunity to open for The Donnas the first time they played the Bottleneck. The band they were on tour with was a group from Canada called The Smugglers and they were absolutly fuckin' TERRIBLE! They haven't been back here since.
9. What band do you love musically but hate the members of? Hard to say as I haven't meet that many famous bands or people, but from everything I have read it would probably be The Misfits.
10. What is the most musically involved you have ever been? The band I currently play for eats up my time when we are busy. But due to a situation out of our hands we haven't been able to practice since last February (that is gonna change for good in November finally and I can't wait). We also didn't play many shows this summer (we typically play 2 to 4 shows a month but only did one a month all summer long). That too changes this month.
11. What show are you looking forward to? Zeke, The Smashtones (the new Cretin 66) and Filthy Jim at Daveys Uptown on Wednesday, October 13'th. Thank goodness this is an 8:30 show since it's mid week in KC, but holy shit will it rock.
12. What is your favorite band shirt? I don't have a paticularly favorite since they make up a good chunk of my wardrobe. I prefer to think of it as the good black music t-shirt or the bad black music t-shirt depending on the occassion.
13. What musician would you like to hang out with for a day? I'm gonna guess live or dead here. Johnny Cash, Keith Moon, Willie Nelson or Ozzy Osbourne.
14. What musician would you like to hump for a day? Neko Case, Tori Amos, Donna C (the drummer for the Donnas) or Rutyer Suys (from Nashville Pussy).
15. Metal question- Jeans and Leather vs. Cracker Jack clothes: Cracker Jack clothes? Oooookay. Jeans and Leather I'm thinking.
16. Sabbath or solo Ozzy? Let me put it this way. I have seen Sabbath twice and have never seen Ozzy solo. 'Nuff said.
17. Commodores or solo Lionel Richie? If I had to choose I would pick the Commodores.
18. Blackjack or solo Michael Bolton? Who (?!?!?) or I don't think so? Pass.
19. Name 3 flawless albums: Live at Leeds by The Who, Rubber Soul by the Beatles and Master of Reality by Black Sabbath. This answer could be a compleatly seperate entry.
20. Did you know that filling out this survey makes you a music geek?: Oh I was WELL aware of this long ago. Sue me.
21. What was the greatest decade for music? This is a tough call because there is high points about each decade. At the moment, considering what I have been listening to mostly, I would probably have to say the 1970's.
22. How many music-related videos/dvds do you own?: To many video tapes to count. 9 DVD's.
23. Do you like Journey? I don't own any of their stuff, but if they come on the radio I wouldn't change the station. Besides Steve Smith is one helluva a drummer.
24. Don't try to pretend you don't. Did I?
25. What is your favorite movie soundtrack? Either Pulp Fiction for the surf music or Less The Zero for Slayer's cover of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".
26. What was your last musical "phase" before you wised up? I admittedly use to be in to hair metal way back when.
27. What's the crappiest CD/record/etc you've ever bought? I didn't buy this thankfully, but when I wrote for Synapsis I was given a CD by a short lived local band called The Cross Country Felons. Words can't describe what a pile of shit this thing was (but the poor sap who got to write about it certainly tried). I passed this thing off very quickly to someone else within about 2 days of getting it.
28. Do you prefer vinyl or CDs? Since I don't have a record player, sadly I have to say at the moment CD.
29. All totaled, how much do you spend on music a month? Between playing in bands, going to shows regularly and buying CDs let's just say there is a good reason why I live paycheck to paycheck most of the time. Oh well, music is my life most of the time.
