So yeah my weekend was fun and full of lot's of drinkin'. Saturday night was the big party at
hailsbells place. It was a good time as I got to see a lot of my friends and meet a few new ones. My buddy Mat (yes it's with one "t") went with me. I also got to see
skajester,
theluckynun, Spinellie and his GF Morgan, Cory, Danielle and her new roommate Lisa, Marcy, Rodney, Broc, and others that I'm drawing a blank on. Lot's of beer was drank and a good time was had by all. Some how me and Mat ended in a room with some females indulging in some wacky tabaccy. It's always fun to just sit back and watch others get high. Almost better then doing the real thing I suspect. Soon there after however I lost Mat. Since he had been drinking almost non stop since 7:00 the night BEFORE, he finally decided to toss up the white flag and head for higher ground. Boy was in some BAD shape to say the least. Dumbass walked all the way home alone in the pouring rain. That man is WAY more of a trooper then I'll EVER be.
Sunday was pretty mellow and saw Jason in recovery mood for round number three. I slept for the first half of the day. Then I got my bills taken care of for this paycheck and decided to go grocery shopping since I had no food. I also wanted to pick up a couple of new DVD's at borders. I got the classic mid 1980's drama "The Color Of Money" with a young Tom Cruise and Paul Newman. Great movie about pool playing and hustling and a personal favorite of mine. I also picked up The Who, Live At The Isle of Wight and reaffirmed why they are my all time favorite band.
Sunday night was suppose to The Stretchmarxx, The Sabiens and Speeddealer at the Replay. I got to the Replay about 9:30 and ran into Venus and Camille from the Stretchmarxx waiting outside the club to play. We talked for a while about different things from the past bands we had all been in and shows we had all played together way back in the day. It was interesting to think about a lot of that stuff from a few years back. Then I walked in and Heather and Liz were already at the bar celebrating the completion of the Honeybaby demo CD recording session. We talked for about an hour about stuff and let the very stupid amount of drinkin' commence. I was excited about this show since it's been over three years since I last saw Speeddealer (when they played with Fu Manchu, Workhorse Movement and Slurry at the Bottleneck). Well The Stretchmarxx loaded in, played their set and loaded out. Then about an hour passed by and the other two bands were nowhere to be found. So The Stretchmarxx said fuck it and loaded back in for a second set. By the time they started their second set we were all very drunk. Adrien, Danielle and some other folks had joined us by this point. The only things I can honestly say I remember from the show were talking to Mike McCoy from the long running KC band Cher UK about our bands doing a show in October at the Brick in KC, getting a CD from the Stretchmarxx to review for Dandercroft and them giving me a couple of very humerus autographs to boot, and Liz singing very drunken backups on a song with the band. The rest of it is very much a complete blur. By some act of God I some how made it home in enough time to get sick in the kitchen sink and pass out on the living room floor till about 6:00am Monday morning. Scary shit when you live alone. Definitely a night with some disastrous end results.
So I made it to bed and slept off my hangover till about 1:00pm. Then it was on to Mom and Dads for laundry, grilling of meat and to watch the Nick Cage flick "Windtalkers". It was nice to see them and just have a mellow day at home. I got back to the apartment last night in time to catch most WWE Raw and to a phone call from Miss Liz making sure I wasn't dead. I'm glad she called because I was just as really worried about her also. Her night ended in almost worse results then mine did. We made a promise to each other not to get that drink for a while. We also got our game plan together some some upcoming shows we are gonna be going to together. This all starts with Split Lip Rayfield on Saturday night at the Bottleneck and ends with the mother fuckin' Suersuckers at the end of October.
Today was pretty quiet. Work was productive and I actully felt pretty good about it. I came home tonight and got some stuff together for the band. Now that Honeywagen has a completed brand spanking new promo pack (minus some press about the record that Nick will start to take care of in the next issue of Dandercroft, right Nick?) to go with the new CD, I can start to work on getting us some good shows. Priority number one is a good gig in Lawrence. Hopefully at the
Replay, but we shall see. Now it's off to sleep. Full day tomorrow that will cumulate in hopefully going to see Drag The River (members and former of All, Armchair Martian and The Nobody's) play some kick ass old school country at the Replay if I got the money. I fuckin' hate being broke.
