Oh God...
That... was so scary.
I dunno how I didn't notice but I didn't close the lid to my gerbils' cage properly and one of them, Asura, had gotten out and our youngest cat was chasing her. Mum managed to chase the cat away and luckily Asure isn't very reluctant towards getting picked up so I managed to get her back in the cage very quickly but... God it was so scary.
I don't even want to think about what would have happened if she hadn't somehow managed to get down the stairs - the cage is upstairs - and I hadn't noticed... I will never, ever let that happen again. >___
