I received my bag back from the nice fellow who found my bag. I was going to give him a reward of $60ish but he only said "If you're religious, put in a good word for me from the man above" and told me to have a good night before I could give him any reward. But, I'm grateful.
Went to the Buildings Breeding, Manacle, Planets, O Lucky Man show at the Firehouse yesterday. It was fun.
It was fun specifically 'cause I haven't gone to a show in the past two quarters. So I had fun taking pictures of the bands. Granted taking Buildings Breeding pictures was kind of a pain because of their fans who blocked me and danced in the front whacking me with their ponchos. I moved over to DJ Dan's side to try to get a view but they blocked me still. But eventually they stopped and sat on the floor, thus semi good view.
I went there for Buildings Breeding but the other bands happened to be Progressive/math-rock bands. How lucky am I? So I actually enjoyed their sets more then Buildings Breeding :x.
I basically ended up buying the CD's from all the bands and one 7" vinyl.
O Lucky Man
Self produced CD + jacket
Planets
This one looks like he's being sucked into the screen.
The pictures for Planets were kind of blurry because of their movements + the moving images. I thought their concept was interesting.
Hand Made Covers
(Front + Back)
Each CD had a different leaf. I wanted to buy a CD but had no change and the people at the table had no change. But later, a band member came up to me and asked if I wanted to buy a CD off of him, plus he would sell it to me for $5 instead of $7 at the table. I also got to pick which leaf I wanted :). Yay, I got a nice green one.
Manacle
Unclothed 7" - they had handmade clothed ones for $7 but I did not have the change
The show ended and everyone filed out of the Firehouse. But I stayed behind, as well as the bands, Jason Dunne, and Daniel Harkin who were talking to each other as Jason counted the money. I was about to leave but was staring at the art on their 7" when a tall male walked in from outside and noticed I had the vinyl. It was a member of the band and he thanked me for buying it because it would help with their gas money. I smiled and he introduced himself to me as John (he would be the tall guy with glasses in the pictures). And he asked my name, and I said Grace... or Totchii...(because I'm horrible at talking) then he asked which I prefered and thus just said Totchii. He thus said he would be playing in Davis on Monday, but he's not sure of the place, and said he hopes to see me there. But I checked the KDVS entertainment calendar and there's nothing on that. Oh well. Super great band though - rather Math-rocky, prog to be general.
Buildings BreedingThe lead singer says to us before they begin, "If you don't know who we are... well... we're going to play some soft rock after all that" and we all laugh. Because everything before them was prog rock.
Now I must draw, and possibly paint.
I finally realized I don't like oil paint - because it makes me dizzy, even if I'm paining outside. Tempra & acrylic for me.
