Blaine had been covertly searching the area for anyone that even minutely resembled the person who had attacked Dora a few days ago. Since most people left the battlegrounds when the sun set, more people were gathered and his chance of success was higher, supposedly. It was possible that person hunted at night, since he was probably running on whatever drugs had been in Dora's backpack, but he would save that task for when he had exhausted his other choices. He wanted to find the man, but not get himself killed in the process since that kind of defeated the point.
His eyes were nonchalantly sliding over the people in the crowd when he heard a vaguely familiar voice. Blue hair bobbed in the crowd, moving fast and he moved to intercept, noticing another head moving just as fast in front of Alto. Had the boy managed to get pick-pocketed? You never know...
[[I have nothing better to do than harass Alto \o]]
Alto was a sight, running through the crowd dressed only in a bathroom, barefooted, hair loose. But there was no time for him to change. That stranger had simply taken his talisman and ran off with it. While it didn't hold any momentary value, it was the only reminder of his mother that he still had.
Just a little bit more.
He managed to follow the man to an alley before he lost him. Strange. Alto was sure he came this way.
And he was correct. As moments later, somebody grabbed him from behind, immobilizing him as they purred into his ear with drug-laced breath. The young man turned his head and saw his talisman on his attacker's neck. God damn it.
"Looking for something?" The stranger purred and rocked his hardness against Alto's behind. Shit.
He saw Alto disappear into a side street and sighed, eyes half-lidded as he followed. He was running around half-dressed and went into an alley? Whatever he was trying to get must be very important or Alto still didn't realize how dangerous this place was.
Blaine followed him in and the back he saw was not wrapped in a bathrobe but a dirty shirt. He could still see the highlighter colored hair in the growing darkness, letting him know Alto was in front. Someone had taken the new Magnolia resident from behind, which wasn't very surprising. He stepped up behind them silently and lifted his foot, aiming at the side of the man's knee. It might pop out of joint, but it would knock the man off-balance regardless. When the assailant was stumbling, he'd grab him and fling him further into the alley so no on would hear his calls for help. The man was going to get the brunt of the blonde's frustration today.
The man was off of him almost immediately. Alto backed away into a wall as he watched Blaine pummel the life out of his attacker.
"My talisman..." he managed to remind before the first sight of blood made him wince. Nevertheless, it was like a train wreck. Regardless of how horrifying the scene was, Alto could not bring himself to look away.
Blaine hadn't done too much to him yet. Just slammed the man's head into the wall a couple of times... But the guy definitely had a broken nose now. The man was wobbling on his feet, and probable felt light-headed. The blonde hooked his finger around the string and lifted it off the man's neck as he fell.
Somehow still on his hands and knees trying to crawl away, Blaine knelt onto the man's back, preventing escape. He was harsh about it, but he was matter-of-fact. He yanked the man's head back by his hair and leaned down to whisper in his ear. Then one final crack of the man's forehead into the ground rendered him unconscious. He rose to his feet in one smooth motion. Looking at the charm in his hand to make sure there was no blood dribbled on it, he was satisfied and turned, holding it out in his hand.
Hesitantly, Alto took the talisman and put it over his own neck, double knotting the string to make sure that it would stay there this time. Though that was just an excuse. He had no idea what to think at the moment, or who to be more afraid of. The man who had attacked him for no reason? Or Blaine, who had-
"I don't kill people if I can help it." Blaine could feel a change in the air. He knew that Alto was afraid of him now. Pulling out his pack of cigarettes, he lifted one to his lips and slid out his lighter. He put the pack away and took a drag.
"You should get back to Magnolia." He used both hands to push his hair back from his face. It would stay slicked back for a while, and he wanted to use both eyes from some reason. He took a few steps forward towards the main street. "Or you should buy some real clothes."
"I didn't have time to change!!" Alto clenched his fist over the charm on his neck. "I would have lost the trail if I'd taken the time to change."
In fact, he didn't even have time to leave the building properly. It was sheer luck (and grace- who knew all the training he went through as a dancer would be helpful here?) that he could jump off a building from the eighth floor and still stay unharmed.
The answer was no, no, and yes. Alto tugged his bathrobe closer to himself, and somehow managed a petulant look on his face rather than an embarrassed one.
He gave a slightly exasperated sigh, but there was a quirk of his lips towards a smile. "You've managed to run pretty far from Magnolia. Why don't you get some clothes to go back in?"
He wanted to pat him on the head, but he knew how much that would have annoyed him any time after he was nine. "At least so people won't be ogling your legs... There's a store down the street on the way back."
"I..." Alto glanced to his side sheepishly. If he had not even have the time to put on shoes when he left, what made Blaine think he had remembered to bring his wallet (or tags, rather. It was so difficult trying to get used to the currency in this place).
"You can pay me back later," he mused, walking past him and stopping at the alley entrance. "If you couldn't even put on underwear, I doubt you'd remember to put anything in your pockets, if that robe even has any."
"DO YOU HAVE TO KEEP REMINDING ME ABOUT MY STATE OF UNDRESS?!!" Alto huffed and followed Blaine, grimacing when he stepped on something particularly edgy. What the hell were wrong with the streets in this place anyway?! The amount of sand and small rocks they had were disgusting.
"If you say it that loud, everyone's going to know." If they hadn't figured it out already anyway, Blaine thought. Alto WAS only wearing a bathrobe, as far as anyone could tell. He noticed the twitch of Alto's face. "You want a ride?"
Alto rolled his eyes. "What? You're going to piggyback me or something?" And to prove that he could walk on his own (though it would take some time resting his tortured feet later), Alto took one slow deliberate step forward.

He stopped a pace from the boy and inhaled more nicotine. "Is that more important to you than your life?"
