His orders were from the heir to hell itself, he being one of the seven sins whose duties went beyond what anyone else had to do. Except for the heir and Lucifer himself. The orders were strange, to interfere in the land of mortals and save a certain human.

He didn't like nor dislike humans, though he did occasionally partake in one for a delicacy, but the heir sending him to save a human from misfortunate was beyond him. And though he had the will to question his orders, Yukiya didn't dare disobey his sole superior.

He was cold. The firewood was sparse with the packed snow, and what could be found was mostly too wet to be used, but he was desperate. Supplies were running low with the snowsnorms days earlier which left him primitive for all sense except the plumbing. He couldn't stand the polluted cities, and instead chose isolation on the outskirts of a more primitive, hunter-based town. He was never able to explain it, but he felt his calling among nature, except at that moment he was greatly regretting it.

"Look what you got yourself into." Byou growled to himself, the full moon lighting his path as he searched for wood. "Choosing to live in the middle of nowhere." The blond grumbled to himself to keep his teeth from clattering bundled up in the clothing and layers he was.

And then his gaze caught a flash of movement out of the corner of his eye, a black blur that made him think he was hallucinating. His head shot towards the movement, and his gaze met the dark eyes of a bitch black wolf.

'Shit. Wasn't meeting the eyes of a predator a sign of challenge? Or were you supposed to do that? If there are any more of them, I'm fucked...'

And his back hit the ground that made him gasp. The animal was on top of him, having tackled him to the ground, and Byou knew right then he was going to die. The animal was going rip out his jugular vein with those sharp canines and feed on him with a voracious appetite. His gloved hands shoved the animal's muscled chest, but he couldn't even make the large wolf budge.

Shit, shit, shit. This huge monstrous animal was going to eat him, or kill him and leave his corpse to freeze in the woods. No, he didn't want to die...

The look in those dark eyes were so knowing that it sent shivers up his spine. The animal never once growled at him, but maybe there were wolves that were silent killers. He didn't know. But he knew if he was going to survive, he had to fight back. He slammed his fist into the side of the animal's head, not the smartest thing to do, but fear taking ahold of him and smothering him. He started to scramble out from under the animal, but he was still stuck.

The animal snarled, baring those deadly teeth, and then there was pain. His head spun with the onslaught of pain in his shoulder, gloved hand gripping the wound that was profusely flowing blood. The pain was debilitating, and he knew if the wolf wanted, it could kill him without him even making a move in defense. Shit. His vision was blurring, his eyes straining to focus on staying awake. He knew if he was unconscious, the animal would kill him or the cold would. And as much as he strained, his vision turned black.

Kiyoharu just realized what he did, and his mind flew into a panic. He couldn't help it, that sweet scent that lured him by the light of the moon, and he couldn't help tackling the poor human. And clearly, he knew nothing of weres, because he freaked out. His instincts were raging when he found his mate, his one and only mate, but the act of defense drove him temporarily into anger. This was human blood, primitive creatures that could not hear or smell the worlds he did, and humans wouldn't understand.

Kiyoharu was trying to rationalize his actions, but he knew the matter was he bit someone. His mate no less. And if his mate died while his body fought the change, he knew he couldn't and wouldn't find another.

But he could already scent the change as his mate fought the virus that would change his body into an otherworldly creature, a were. One that walked in either human skin or beast, and though part of him worried whether or not the blond would ever forgive him, his priority was his mate's safety.

By the light of the full moon, he knew he couldn't change back, not after he found his mate and instincts swarmed throughout with his mate in danger. There was nothing he could do to help ease the pain or instability his mate would go through, but he couldn't leave the unconscious blond.

The wound had already closed, the mark still present, that much taking time to heal although the healing was clearly accelerated. But still he couldn't help but worry. And weres weren't immune to cold either in their human skin. Frostbite was a key threat.

Nudging the other male with his snout, the unconscious blond shivered with the cold, but didn't wake. Cold. His shoulder was exposed thanks to the bite, and Kiyoharu wouldn't be able to forgive himself if anything happened to his mate. Placing both his paws over the sleeping body, he covered the body with his own, the exposed shoulder underneath the layers of fur of his chest.

A hand held him closer, the other sleeping still, but instinctively pressing into the warmth. Kiyoharu rested his head on his paws, an awkward makeshift blanket for Byou, but remaining in place until morning.

Ears pricked with the sound of conversation in the distance, and that could be only one thing: hunters. Nudging the sleeping beauty with his snout some more, the other was in a dead sleep as his body adjusted and transformed cell by cell. He didn't have clothes so he couldn't go as a human, which meant luring them away and looping back around to carry his mate back home. He got up, stretched and hurried away towards the sound of the hunters.

Byou woke up slowly, despite the loud gunshot real close. His mind was in a haze, as if his neurons were submerged in molasses. His body trembled, but he wasn't cold; in fact, he was burning from the inside out. His skin felt like it was moving, crawling, alive with its own mind. His fingers shook as if they had their own seizures, his shoulder pulsing in heat where he was bitten despite the mark gone. His head throbbed, and he was unable to sit up. All he could do was curl up, clutching himself, moaning in intense pain.

"Well... I'm a little late. You're no longer human, are you?" Yukiya watched from his spot on the tree, looking down on the new were.

'My order still stands.' The voice of the prince of hell echoed in his head. 'Keep him safe.'

"Yes, my lord."

Yukiya kept watch on his human, feeling the trancending aura as the blond's body became that of a were in human skin. The sickening crack of bones with screams of pain melded torturously together in a grotesque medley. Reaching out, Yukiya dissolved the human's clothing to aid the first change he knew was inevitable.

The human was fighting the pain and experience that was strange and unfamiliar, something out of a horror movie that no one would have believed. Fur a gleaming silver grew at alarming rate, pushing through flesh like needles. Fingernails hooked into claws, fingers thickening and shortening into paws, his leg bones cracking and reconstructing, nose pulling into a snout, teeth long and pointed, ears on top of his head. The change was both awe inspiring and grotesque in its appearance, but Yukiya couldn't help his morbid fascination.

How... Intriguing. The wolf snarled and snapped at the air, then threw it's head back in an eerie, disturbed howl that even shook Yukiya for a moment. The animal was out for blood; not to eat, but for the sole purpose of bloodshed and mutilating. Yukiya could feel it in the animal's aura.

Paws carrying the animal at rapid speeds, it whipped through the snow-covered ground, following the sound of manmade noise, jaws snapping, a growl in his throat. All traces of humanity were gone, just the need for hate, anger, and blood.

In the clearing where the men were having a discussion, the crazed wolf gave no warning. He leaped, jaws catching the throat of one human, and ripping the jugular vein. He didn't stop there, chewing through the neck until the body was decapitated. Blood dripped off his snout and from his teeth, mixed with saliva.

Shotguns aimed at the crimson stained animal, on hunter screaming in shock and disgust, "Shoot! It's tasted human blood."

The blast of the shotgun fired, dead aimed on the beast. A bullet to the head would have stopped the wolf dead in its tracks, but someone got in the way.

The fired bullet caught in his palm, Yukiya shook his head, "No, no, no. I can't have you shooting at my lord's pet."

"Are you mad?! Did you see what that monster did to my friend?!" The leader of the troupe screamed, face a tomato red with anger.

Yukiya glanced at the decapitated corpse nonchalantly, then smiled slowly. Subtlely in the most sinister of ways, "Not even close to what I'm going to do to you."

Another bullet Yukiya caught in his other hand. Power flowed in his hands into the bullets and threw them at the two men, the power incorporated into the bullets blooming in the flesh and making the bodies explode into a sea of blood, muscle, and flesh. There was no warning, not even a chance for the men to scream.

Turning to the wolf that didn't consider him a challenge or didn't acknowledge his presence with the lack of scent, Yukiya held a hand up, "Sleep now."

The wolf was caught under the spell, snarling as it fought the unnatural powers of the demon it could not sense. And then the animal collapsed.

"Come, my beast. We have work to do." Yukiya lifted the unconscious wolf, carrying the animal far away from mankind.

Gunshots. Blood. Kiyoharu panicked, scenting the honey of his lover among those scents. He was far from his lover, about to howl to lure the hunters his way. But another howled before him, and he was frozen in horror when he realized that his lover had changed already. He was tracking his way back to where he had left his sleeping lover, but he was gone.

Despite the instincts telling him to run, he needed to find his missing lover. Following the scent trail, his nose was overwhelmed with blood. The clearing was a source of horror. One corpse was decapitated by animal jaws. His mate had killed another in insanity. The other two were unrecognizable as even human. Flesh, muscle, blood littered the clearing; something that could be caught up in a sponge. That wasn't done by any were or animal.

But the scent trail stopped here. Was one of those bodies his mate? His mate was gone. Whipping his head back, he howled. It was the only thing he could do.
