1. Lisa and I went to this democratic party shindig tonight. Fred Harris, George Nigh (who the student union at my college is named for), and David Walters spoke and Mrs. Seal from PC North sang the national anthem. It was cool. There were tons of people there and it made me want to get more involved in politics, which I intend to do. I'm still working on my website; I want it to have actual good design this time, as opposed to just me typing crappy code in notepad. (that's
http://www.progressiveoklahoma.com for those who missed it.) I want to organize concerts, free lectures, bar-b-cues, things like that as the 2006 elections draw near.
2. thanks to
thuyanh, I am now the proud owner of an australian PENGUIN WAFFLE MAKER. PENGUIN WAFFLE MAKER. PENGUIN WAFFLE MAKER. And thanks to the suprisingly favorable US to AUS exchange rate, it wasn't nearly as expensive as I thought it was going to be! Now I just have to wait for my voltage converter and plug adapter to come...This is why it's cool to have friends in other nations. Friends who love penguins.
3. I bought The Critic and Batman: The Animated Series Season One on DVD this weekend. Yes, this journal will primarily be about things I've bought from now on.
4. Lisa's job sucks, so everyone who knows her should be extra nice to her.
5. We're going to check out that house in the village tomorrow. For those of you who don't live in the gleaming metropolis that is Oklahoma City, the village is the perfect example of a post war 1940s/1950s middle class neighborhood. It looks like every house is potentially inhabited by Dick Van Dyke. There's trees up and down the street and a big water tower a couple blocks away, and gosh it's just so damn wholesome. Also, the village is pretty diverse, so that should hopefully drive most of the rednecks away. I think that our state house representative might be my favorite house rep and house minority leader Opio Toure. Just say it to yourself: Opio Toure. In addition to having an awesome name, Opio Toure is one of the most progressive politicians in the state and easily the most powerful black politician in the state. In the event that I do get a free lecture series going, I want him to be one of the first speakers. Actually, we might be in the same house district as Nichols Hills (the ridiculous rich people island in Oklahoma City that we would be living just north of) in which case it would be nessicary to clone Opio Toure and hold the nichols hills country club hostage until he's elected.
(note: I just checked, and we won't be in opio toure's district. I distinctly remember seeing signs for him last election in the village, but there's no shame in rooting for opio toure when you don't live in his district. I've heard him speak, and if anything he should be in the US house, not the state house. Go check him out.

6. I'm sleepy.
