Last weekend I was at Home Depot looking around for some flooring stuff for my eventual remodel of the dining room and front hall. I decided while I was there to get a rebuild kit for the old Delta faucet in my kitchen. Not a big deal, right? After looking around for the parts in the plumbing repair aisle, I found a couple cheap plastic pieces, but none of the brass rebuild kits. I asked one of the people there where to find them and got a, "I don't think they make them for a faucet that old." Small problem is that I know the things exist and are not terribly expensive. Replacement full brass mechanism kitchen faucet was around $200 for the same damn thing, and I decided to hold off on anything till I had another look around.
This weekend I went up to the True Value up on Main here in town. Rebuild kit, $12.99. All brass, stainless springs, new o-rings and washers, the whole deal. Somehow, my distrust for the big boxers just went up a couple notches. (Oh, and my faucet doesn't leak anymore.)
