My Inaugural Entry

I joined LiveJournal over the weekend, but spent more time getting things set up the way I want them (gotta have the kitty mood icons) than thinking of what to actually write. I had fun adding interests, too. When I first created my user profile, I could only think of two interests…cats and The Simpsons. Well, duh…someone who’s known me for five minutes could figure that out. So I started browsing around and kept thinking of more interests…movies, TV shows, authors, etc. So now my interest list gives a pretty good picture of what I like. Oh, and by the way- Arrested Development refers to the Fox TV show, not the 90’s rap group, although Mr. Wendell was a pretty cool song. I love how when you look at another user’s profile, any interests that you have in common are in bold.

So what is my purpose for starting this? I used to keep a written journal, which I wrote in fairly consistently and then just stopped about 5 years ago. I’ve tried to get back into it a couple of times, and neither time was successful. This is a lot different, obviously, since it’s not private, and not meant to be private. You also have to wonder if what you have to say is even interesting enough for other people to want to read! So, I will give this a shot, see what happens, and decide if I want to keep it up or not.

My weekend was pretty good, did the typical things- went to the Sting game with Robin (she has awesome seats), went to Hartigan’s, did some laundry and cleaning around the house. I also got a new cell phone. My old one was embarrassingly outdated, and people made fun of it. So I have one from this century. It’s still no-frills: no camera, no internet, no games, but it’s all I need. In fact I just received my first call on it this morning. Nothing exciting, just the guy at AAA AutoCare telling me I need a new belt of some sort on my car. It costs $100. Fine. Still better than making car payments.

Six Feet Under was awesome last night and I don’t even have anyone to talk about it with…I’ll have to join a SFU community here on LJ. The Simpsons reran (for the second time in about a month) the “gay marriage” episode which pretty much gets lamer every time I see it. It also annoys me how they have to run that stupid disclaimer before they show it. The best gay-themed Simpsons episode was “Homer’s Phobia” back in Season Eight. Should be coming out on DVD about…one year if they stay on the current schedule.
