I made a new Red Sox icon. I realized I write about sports in here all the time, and the only sports-related icon I had was the Syracuse Orange. The Red Sox won tonight, and the Yankees lost, so all is well in MLB. :-)
Tonight I went to the Sting game, encouraged by
frdelrosario, because otherwise I was really unmotivated to go, despite the fact that my tickets were free and I even had a free parking pass. I called my friend Lisa at the last minute to ask if she wanted to go, and she was already going, and meeting someone there who she'd been e-mailing for a week, but I could still meet up with them. They would buy tickets when they got there, but there are usually enough empty seats that we'd just sit somewhere together. So, I went down there, ran into some people I knew, including someone I used to work with at a job I left over 3 years ago! The person Lisa was supposed to meet didn't show up by gametime, so I just gave her my extra free ticket. It all worked out in the end. Well, for me anyway. For the Sting...not so much. They lost another one, bringing them to 3 and 12. They were playing Sacramento, last year's WNBA Champs. Sacramento was in the lead throughout, although it did get exciting in the 4th quarter when the Sting got within 3, but then fell back behind and the final score was 57 to 65. I was really hoping this season would turn out better, with a new coach and all, but so far they are exactly where they are this time last year. I bought some overpriced arena food, and caught one of those t-shirts that the cheerleaders throw into the crowd. So overall, not a bad time, I guess.
This morning I woke up early to take my car in for a oil change & state inspection. The place opened at 8, so I got up, ate some breakfast and left. I got there a few minutes after 8, no later than 8:05, and there was already a line of about 6 or 7 people. I shouldn't have bothered with breakfast, I guess, or gotten up 5 minutes sooner. But I stayed and waited, since I was already there, and didn't have anything else to do. Then about 2 hours later it was done, but it didn't pass the inspection because my license plate (or as they call it in NC, tag) holder is messed up, and they don't have the part to fix it. So I have to either go get it fixed at the Subaru dealer, or just get the part and bring it back there to install, and finish the inspection. Now I am annoyed with myself for not getting the inspection done while my car was AT the Subaru dealer a week ago. I'm such an idiot sometimes. So I think I might just order the part and have it done by the place where I normally go. I already have a part I ordered down at the Subaru dealer. It's a wheel cover. They fall off at the drop of a hat. I think this is the fourth one I've bought.
