When He's 64

Paul McCartney has been the headline-writer's dream lately. First there was the separation (and divorce) from Heather Mills, which generated plays on Beatles' song titles- "Hello- Goodbye," "They Can't Work it Out." Today Sir Paul actually turned 64, which he wrote a song about, a really time ago. So of course there have newspaper articles and stories on TV about this. I wish that Linda had not died, and no, not just because she encouraged Lisa Simpson's vegetarianism (it all comes back to The Simpsons, doesn't it?). If she was still alive, he would actually have someone to "need him and feed him [meatless meals, of course]" instead of going through all this drama with Heather.

Well, it's been another weekend where I could have gotten a lot done, but didn't. Friday I stayed in and...I don't really remember. Watched TV, I guess. Saturday I sat around, watched the Red Sox game. They were playing in Atlanta and there were more Red Sox fans than Braves fans there. It was awesome. Of course I didn't even realize the Red Sox would play in Atlanta (it's an inter-league series), or else maybe I could have gone. That would have been so much fun. In the evening I went to meet some people at a bar. It was okay. There was karaoke (I listened, didn't sing), and trivia. I played a couple of games, and won both, but there were only 2 other people playing, so don't be too impressed. I drank Diet Coke the whole time, left at around 12:30 and when I got home couldn't fall asleep until about 2:30. And was woken up by Gizmo at around 7 (he's started a new licking/biting thing when he is hungry in the morning). Today...pretty much more of the same.

My car has been making a really loud noise lately. Well, it started off awhile ago, only if I got up to certain speeds. I took the famous "wait and hope it goes away" approach. Predictably, the noise got worse and was happening at any speed. Finally this week I dropped it off at the car care place to get it checked out. Turns out I have a bad wheel bearing, and there is some specialized tool needed to fix it and only Subaru dealers have it. Grrrrr. There are 2 Subaru dealers in Charlotte, at two locations: inconvenient and more inconvenient. My appointment is on Wednesday at the less inconvenient location, and they have a shuttle I can use to get a ride to work after dropping it off in the morning, but I have no way to get back down there. I will have to ask around at work, but I don't think anyone lives anywhere near there. So, I have to figure something out. I am so stressed out about the logistics of this, that I am not even concerned about the money it will cost to fix it. This is pretty much the worst aspect I can think of about being single. You don't have someone you can automatically count on if you need a ride when your car is out of commission.
