Good Night for Rockin' Out, Bad Night for My Phone

The concert was fun! It was pretty much exactly what you would expect- all of the bands played "greatest hits" type sets, and some of the songs I hadn't heard in a long time. And apparently many folks took that "party like it's 1988" thing a *lot* more seriously than I did! Several people were dressed like they were going to an 80's costume party including 2 dudes with full-on rocker outfits complete with big wigs (at least, I hope those were wigs). Several girls were wearing the denim miniskirt over black leggings style, which looked cute, but damn, it must have been hot! So, yes, definitely some good people-watching at this show. Also, too many guys with shirts off who should never be shirtless in public.

During the break between Poison and Def Leppard, my boss and I were texting each other. She was in one of the VIP Boxes, and I was back with the lawn rats. I used the rest room, and as I was pulling up my pants and flushing the toilet (trying to get out as quickly as possible), my cell phone slipped out of my pocket and was gone. I was pretty sure it got flushed. I didn't hear it hit the floor or skid across it. I checked the 2 adjoining stalls, and later during Def Leppard's set, even went back to look for it again when it wasn't full of people, and didn't see it, but at least I put in due diligence in trying to find it.

The good news is, my phone was over 4 years old, ancient in personal technology terms, and was pretty bottom-of-the-line, even when it was new. I could make calls and text. That was about it, no personalized ringtones, no camera. Frank was starting to make fun of it, but as long as it still functioned, I saw no need to replace it. I briefly considered getting an iPhone, but ended up staying with Sprint, and got a really cool, totally girly purple phone, the LG Lotus. And it's several steps up as far as features like camera, video, Internet, etc. So, hopefully I will hold onto this one for a few years and keep it out of the toilet.

We're meeting Roger & Jennifer tonight for dinner- it will be the first time we've seen them since their 2-week vacation to Hawaii. It will be fun to hear about their trip! I already saw a bunch of their pictures. Then we'll be home in time to watch the Red Sox try to not get swept by the Yankees...this series has not been much fun for Red Sox fans.
