For the second weekend in a row I went to a drag pageant. Last night was Miss Charlotte Eagle Pride, hosted by a pretty hilarous camp queen, relatively new to the Charlotte drag scene- Buff Faye, who is also attempting to make it onto the next season of
RuPaul's Drag Race. There was only one contestant, Sierra Santana, who will now move on to represent the Eagle at the Miss Pride Charlotte pageant in July. There were also some great performances by Emory Starr and Brandi Andrews. Brandi was the winner of Miss Petra's Pride, so she'll be competing in Miss Pride Charlotte, and Emory will be entering Miss Hideaway Pride in June. Wow, this LJ entry is starting to look like
Miss Della's Drag Rag! Frank has been coming to the pageants with me, and we've been enjoying them a lot! The next prelim is Miss Liaisons Pride, and I will actually judging, which I am excited about.
In addition to the pageant, it was a pretty good weekend. Friday night I took Frank out to dinner as a reward for taking *all 3* cats to the vet that day. We ate at TGI Fridays...$5 salad and sandwich menu, yay. Then we went to Lowe's and bought a grill. Saturday morning we got up and had to drop off Oliver's "sample" at the vet (hopefully the parasites are gone), and then went to Trader Joe's for all kinds of stuff, but particularly buffalo burgers, steaks and chicken to cook on the new grill. We went home, Frank assembled the grill...and it basically rained the rest of the weekend! He was still able to make the burgers and steaks on Saturday, plus we also made corn on the cob on the grill, which rocked. But on Sunday we ended up eating leftover burgers for lunch and used the leftover steak to make quesadillas for dinner. We'll try for grilled terayaki chicken tonight.
We watched the 2 Red Sox games that were on TV, the Saturday night game on MLB Network, where Frank's very own Jonathan Papelbon gave up a 2-homer and got his first blown save of the season. Then Sunday afternoon's game was on TBS, and the Red Sox won that one, thereby avoiding being swept at home. By the Mets. I also got on-line and ordered our Atlanta wardrobe- 2 new Red Sox t-shirts for me, 2 t-shirts and 2 hats for Frank. I will try to make do with the 2 hats I already own, but Frank wanted 2 more in addition to the ones he has. And we each need 3 different shirts because it's Atlanta, it will be June, and I'm sure each shirt will be so disgusting after each wearing, there's no way they can be re-worn until they are properly laundered. And we don't want to be mistaken for Braves fans!
And I also did a bunch of odds and ends around the house- cleaned and changed the litter boxes, sewed on some buttons, did some ironing- I broke down and bought an iron recently. The last one I had broke years ago, and I never replaced until now. I suck at ironing. Really the only part I iron is when the button placket gets all wrinkly. I hate that. Wrinkles on the bodies, sleeves, etc I just live with or shake out.
Today I am at work, not to be confused with actually working.
