Two-Day Workweek

Dec 22, 2008 12:26

I'm working today and tomorrow, then off for the rest of the week. Then I'll be off next week, except for Friday January 2. I know, that's kind of lame having to go back just for that one day, but that's the way the calendar worked out. And of the 4 of us in my area, two people are taking the 2nd off, and Jamie may or may not be here, depending on when her baby decides it wants to pop out. So, someone's gotta hold down the fort. But I shouldn't complain. A lot of people are just getting two or three days off for the holidays.

The weekend was alright. It was one of those weekends I went into with tons of plans, and ended up only doing a small fraction of what I'd originally intended. Friday night was the Gay Men's Chorus Holiday concert, and there was a play at Actor's Theater, either of which I'm sure would have been great, but I was feeling tired and unmotivated, so we just ended up staying in and doing neither. Saturday I felt crappy, and Frank went to a party in Greenville. I was supposed to go, but didn't feel like going somewhere 2 hours away or being social. I didn't want him to miss the party on my account, so he still went. I took a nap, read a little, watched the Syracuse-Memphis basketball game, and then a poorly adapted TV movie of a book I'd read earlier this year. Frank came home the next day, we did laundry, and we went down to chavah and mhael's house for a Solstice bonfire. It was also the first night of Hanukkah, and the guys were wearing Santa hats, so it was an integrated multi-holiday observance. I brought Hanukkah cookies that actually turned out to be powdered sugar formed into the shape of Stars of David. We ate some, and then the dog had the rest...LOL. Also, their son (a few days away from turning 3) is apparently the world's youngest Mystery Science Theater geek fan. He thought that since I hang out with Frank, my name must be Dr. Forrester.

I still have a little shopping to do for Frank. I may stop at a place or two after work. We haven't really made our plans for this week yet. There is a potluck get-together at the Community Center on Thursday (Christmas Day) that we are thinking about going to, since it's an interesting idea to have a social gathering that day, and we don't have any other plans. I feel like we should do something on Christmas rather than just sit home.
