The weather is beautiful today. It's nice to be able to turn the heat off and open some windows.
One week from now the Carnival Triumph will be sailing from Miami en route to Puerto Rico. The tour company with whom we'd booked a walking tour of Old San Juan called today to let me know the bookings for that night are slow, and if they don't get more people to sign up they may have to cancel. I posted on our Cruise Critic roll call to try to get some more people to do it. If the tour does get canceled, there is always Plan B: just go to Senor Frog's and drink all night, or Plan C: contact a high school acquaintance who I'm connected with on Facebook who happens to live in San Juan, and at least get an inside scoop on somewhere we can find some yummy authentic local food.
Obama will be back in Charlotte for a rally tomorrow. Now, if that's not proof that North Carolina's a battleground state, I don't know what is, but I think it's very exciting that he will be here the night before he is (hopefully) elected president of the US! I want to go, but I'd have to leave work a few hours early, so it will depend on if anyone else is out of the office/taking time off tomorrow. The visit was just announced over the weekend.
Here's a story from today's news about the local politician who drove me to vote for a Republican:
Mackey is sued over Yellow Book ads. So, yeah, that's the guy I didn't vote for.
Friday night (Halloween) I went to the Rocky Horror-ween party with Frank,
fairydusted27, her guy, and
chavah. I had not seen Rocky Horror in ages... it must have been college or right after. We had a blast, although I'd forgotten a lot of the stuff you're supposed to shout out. Or I remembered them, but was afraid I'd say them at the wrong time, so didn't say them, and it turns out I would have gotten them right after all. And a few times I did yell the wrong thing, or say it too early, or too late or whatever. Maybe I should have done a "practice viewing" at home, or looked up
this website. The next day, I dug out my old "Audience Part-ic-i-pation" audiotape (one of only about 15 tapes I still own)...luckily my old pre-21st century car has a cassette player, so I can listen to it. There wasn't a huge crowd, so the place wasn't too packed, but there weren't that many audience participation folks there. I don't know if they were "virgins", or couldn't remember anything, or just shy, or what.
chavah & I did a lot of it, even with me forgetting so much. We also ended up getting up and doing the Time Warp right up under the screen. There was supposed to be a "shadow cast" but that fell through for whatever reason. The people running the show seemed really disappointed about it, but I had just as good a time without it. Now I want to go again and get more of the audience participation lines right!
