There are less than 9 hours left of this year. I am heading out to a party at Candy & Bill's later, but now I am here, with the Twilight Zone marathon on TV. It's been a New Year's tradition ever since I was a kid and we watched them on Channel 11 out of New York City.
Mike & his wife Jennifer are in town today. We all just went up to Jetton Park in Cornelius and laid Zack's ashes in the garden, near the gazebo. Then we went out for lunch at Brixx pizza. Jennifer seems very nice. I'm glad she & Mike got together. Mike got to come in for a minute and meet Gizmo. Sandy ran and hid when he was here. I think she's afraid of human males, since she's not really used to being around them.
On Thursday I finally got back to pick up my car at around 4:30. I still went and did all my errands, but I was dragging by the time I got home. I had the sushi that I like from Harris Teeter, and then had to put away the stuff I'd bought. Yesterday I went down to see
chavah and Xander. He was very good the whole time I was there, didn't cry at all. I even held him for quite awhile until it was time for him to be fed. I really need to work at being better with babies & kids. Even if I never have them, other people who I care about do (or will), so it's a part of life. I brought a gift pak of baby wash, lotion, diaper rash cream, etc. I had also given Carie a Winnie-the-Pooh baby outfit a few months earlier. I brought Carie a huge Hanukkah gift bag of food, snacks & goodies. Some were specifically Hanukkah-related (potato pancake mix, dark & milk chocolate gelt- the foil-wrapped coins used for the dreidel game), and the rest was just stuff that looked good or would fill up the bag. With Carie having a C-section, it's going to be longer than normal for her to be up and around, so a lot of people are bringing them food, groceries, etc, so I was glad to bring some as well. I also gave Brian my fifth (and last) copy of the Wal-mart DVD, as a belated birthday present. His b-day was sometime before the baby was born, but I hadn't seen them since then.
This week went by so quickly, I can't believe it's Saturday already. My apartment's a mess. I will have tomorrow and Monday to take down the tree, put away all the xmas stuff, and clean. It's almost time for the next Twilight Zone to start. I think I'll go sit and watch a couple episodes before it's time to get ready for the party.
