We lost my dad's sister, our Aunt Genny, this evening, June 17, 2008, at 8:07pm. For anyone that reads my sporadic blog, you might notice that it was exactly 1 year and 2 days earlier that we lost my dad. There is now 1 sibling left in that generation of my family on my dad's side. My cousins on that side of the family are at least 10 years older than me, with the youngest being my younger and only sister who is 34. The oldest is in her late 60's. Some of them we have never seen. My dad's family was not as close as my mom's side. Our Aunt Genny had never married and had no children, so our dad had asked us to take care of her for him. Aunt Genny was the oldest of the 4 siblings, and my dad was the youngest and only boy. She was 16 years older than my dad. She was a kind and caring woman that would do anything for you. She worked for the state of california for 25 years and then for the Future Farmers of America after she retired at 50. Her passing is sad, but a blessing all the same. She missed my dad terribly and her body was giving out on her as her will to live diminished. She will be missed and loved.
Life is short, laugh uncontrollably when ever possible, break the rules occasionally, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, and never regret anything that made you smile.
