Thanksgiving Weekend

I've been having some technical difficulties.
Basically, my laptop will go to a blue screen at a moment's notice, and there is nothing I have figured out to do in order to fix this. I stopped using my laptop for a week, and today I thought I'd turn it on and mess with it. So far so good!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I went to Ryan's aunt's celebration like I did last year. The four aunts are nicknamed "The Golden Girls" because they are always laughing, cracking personal jokes, and just being rowdy. They are all divorced or widowed, so it's really a woman-centered event. It's really fun! No one holds back anything, and sometimes it's cringe worthy, but generally it's a great time.
The day after Thanksgiving I repeated what I did last year: go surfing in the morning, and then go to a great restaurant on the beach for brunch with friends. Over the past year my surfing ability has not really improved, in fact it may have declined, but I still go out there and try! The restaurant I go to afterward has a 40's beach theme. All of the servers are in khaki pants and white shirts, Big Band music plays, and you can literally look over your shoulder at the water! Since it is November, they have fleece blankets draped over the chairs for everyone to use. Afterward the entire group walked along the beach and waded in the tide pools. I didn't realize that this was a tradition from before I started dating Ryan, but I'm glad to be a part of it now.
And now it's back to the grind. I have a horrible week coming up as far as school goes: exams almost every day this week and two on Monday! But I'm hopeful that over the weekend some more nursing schools sent out acceptance letters and I have moved higher on the waiting list to becoming a nursing student. There's also some changes at the hospital too: if volunteers haven't had the H1N1 vaccine by 12/01/09, we have to wear masks at all times, state law. It is not mandatory for us to get the vaccine, but it is mandatory for us to wear the mask if we haven't received it. I actually want to get the vaccine because I feel in the hospital I am exposed to the virus more than the average person, but due to the shortages I have to wait. I know it's a hairy subject for most people and I don't even want to pretend to be able to advise parents (my relatives have already asked me!) because I'm just a volunteer!
