---
"My mom thinks you're a bad influence."
It takes Jin a few minutes for the other's words to process. A frown crosses his features as he looks up from the text book spread across his lap, "What?" he asks, glancing at the younger boy through the mirror.
He doesn't say anything for a while, stretching his arms above his head. "Mom thinks you're going to lead me astray." He finally says, turning around to look at Jin. "Apparently, your whole 'go my way' attitude pisses her off."
Jin snickered, leaning back against the mirrored wall behind him, "Me?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. "May I remind you who's still going to school between the two of us, Kame?"
'Kame' made a face at the nickname, "its Kazuya." He mumbled, knowing that Jin wouldn't care either way, "And she still thinks that's your fault."
A scandalized noise leaves Jin's mouth, "My fault?" he asks. "How is that? I'm not the one who's having a hard time adjusting."
Kazuya laughed, kneeling behind Jin and wrapping his arms around the older's shoulders, "Oh, I'm sure it'll happen to you soon."
"Some friend you are." Jin muttered, looking back down at the text book in his lap. "I've got to finish high school."
Kazuya sighed, squeezing Jin's shoulders, "You know I didn't mean it like that." He whispered, pulling away from the older. "I have faith in you..." he trailed off, grinning at Jin when the older teen around to look at him.
Jin opened his mouth to say something, but he stopped when the door to the practice room opened, "Ah, there's our cue." He said, closing the book with a loud 'thump'.
Ruffling Jin's hair, Kazuya pushed himself up, and offered his hand to the older teen.
-
Kazuya's not exactly sure what time it is, he doesn't even register the numbers on his alarm clock when he sits up and groggily answers his phone. "What?" he mumbled into the speaker, voice slurred with sleep.
"Kame," Jin's hushed voice says from the other line, "...did I wake you up?"
He sighs, lying heavily back against the pillows, "No, Jin. I was just resting my eyes."
"...oh." A shuffling is heard on the other end, before Jin sighs too, "Look, Kame. I'll see you tomorrow, alright?"
"Jin, no, look. I'm sorry for snapping at you like that." He runs his hand over his face and yawns, "What's wrong?"
The line is quiet for a while, and Kazuya would have thought the other had hung up, if not for the soft breathing echoing through the receiver.
"I dropped out." He finally whispers, and Kazuya's not exactly sure what he means, until Jin repeats the answer in its entirety. "I dropped out of school today. I couldn't do it, Kame."
Kazuya exhales, "Its okay, Jin." His voice is low and comforting, "You did the best you could and-"
"No!" Jin interrupts him, "Can, just...can we meet somewhere? I need to talk, please."
He weighs the pros and cons of this. He's lucky to not have practice of any kind tomorrow, it's his first day off in week, but Jin has a photoshoot tomorrow and a recording for Hadaka no Shounen, he tells the older that much, that he just needs to sleep, it's okay, Jin, don't let it bother you, alright? You did the best you could but Jin doesn't listen.
"Kame. Please." He nearly begs, his voice is soft and there's a hint of exhaustion laced with the syllables. There's rustling in the background, and Jin's breathing, it's panicked and short, and Kazuya recognizes it.
He can almost see Jin, sitting in the dark, blanket held tight over hunched shoulders. He'd be holding the phone tightly in his hands, speaker pressed against his ear. He sighs. "Fine, the park near my house, okay? Let's meet there."
-
Ten minutes later, he finds himself sitting on the grass, back against a tree as he waited for Jin. This is their spot, as he calls it. They're not the only ones who know about it, no, it's an obvious spot, under the big tree by the swings, but this is where they'd meet to walk to school together, even if it meant that Jin had to walk an extra ten minutes to get there every morning.
"You came." Jin says, and Kazuya looks up. The older teen's disheveled state, the way his breathing is short, almost like he'd ran a marathon to get there, sets off an alarm in Kazuya's head.
"What's wrong, Jin?" he asks, his voice soft and gentle as he pats the grass beside him. He watches as Jin collapses onto the ground, rolling around on the wet grass for a moment to find a comfortable place to lay, before looking over at Kazuya.
"I couldn't do it." He begins, repeating his earlier statement. "I tried so hard, to keep my head up, but it's like...I make one little mistake and the world falls down around me."
Kazuya reaches out, placing his hand on Jin's head, he knew that feeling very well, that's the same helpless feeling he experienced that made him give up. "Keep going." He whispered, urging the older teen.
Jin breathes in deeply, "I convinced mom, but dad..." he trailed off softly, "He didn't support it too well. He called me a coward for not facing it like a man, and for going behind his back and doing it without asking him." Jin pressed his face into the crook of his elbow, "I wanted to tell him, but I know he doesn't understand...he doesn't understand the stress..." he trailed off. "I felt so alone. It's just...I don't want to do this anymore."
All of this sounded familiar to Kazuya, it brought back those memories of a few weeks back, where he'd told his parents he would drop out of school formally so he could concentrate on his work at Johnny's. He could see the disappointment in their eyes, but they respected his wish. Things were still a little tense when his brothers would talk about something they learned in their classes, and all Kazuya had to talk about was a new set of dance moves he'd had to drill that day. It wasn't really ideal, but somehow, they made it work.
He'd met Jin's father a few times, the man was polite and could be cold if caught on a bad day. Jin's mother was the complete opposite. She was nice to anyone, and supportive of her children's decisions, she was young too, so perhaps she was able to identify with Jin more than his father.
Kazuya knew how much Jin cared about his parents, knew how much Jin looked up to his father, because he knew Jin wanted so much for him to approve of his decision to join Johnny's Entertainment. Kazuya knew exactly how much Jin's father wanted Jin to have a normal salary man's job, but Jin was anything but normal, he was born to be on stage, born to perform.
"Hey, Jin?" he asked, looking down at the older teen.
The other didn't move for several moments, then, he looked up, "Huh?"
Kazuya offered him a smile, "It's gonna be okay." He reassured the older, "You just need to work hard and prove that this is what you were made for."
Jin wrinkled his nose, "You sound like my mom." He said, reaching out and pushing at Kazuya's side.
The younger laughed, ruffling Jin's hair, "Get up." He pushed himself up, dusting his pants off. "There's an all-night sushi place not too far from here. My treat." He offered his hand to Jin, lips turned up in a boyish grin.
"Kame..." he began, looking between Kazuya's hand and face, "I uh." He frowned, before shaking his head and taking the hand offered to him. When he stood up, he squeezed Kazuya's hand briefly before letting it go, "Thank you."
Kazuya scoffed, nudging Jin's side, "Any time."
-
It was a stupid reason, stupid, stupid, stupid. Even he himself identified it as stupid. So when Kazuya hugged him tightly from behind, cheering loudly into his ear, he didn't know why he felt so fucking ecstatic about winning a simple little thing like the Junior Fight.
When the younger teen's weight left his back and Kazuya stood beside him as Tomohisa read his lines off to the camera, Jin looked over at Kazuya from the corner of his eye.
Kazuya grinned widely at him, congratulations. He mouthed, nudging Jin in the side, before turning back to the front when the cameras focused on Jin again.
Jin couldn't exactly describe the feeling in the pit of his stomach, somewhere between elation and nervousness that made his hands sweaty as he held his microphone, waiting for his cue to speak. He didn't know why he felt like this. He was going to Okinawa, with his best friend, after all. Things shouldn't be awkward.
Things were awkward though, boy were they awkward. Jin had to put on a smile for the cameras (which was a completely unplanned thing, actually) and all he had wanted from this trip was a vacation. By the time they'd made it to the beach that night, all Jin wanted to do was go home.
All day was spend doing ridiculous and stupid things, and while he'd laughed about it at first, the shirt he'd been conned into wearing embarrassed him, the socks made his feet sweaty and he felt like screaming in frustration when the camera man told him he had to sleep in a tent.
"It's not that bad, Jin." Kazuya had said after the camera crew had gone to their hotel for the night.
The older boy scoffed and tugged the blanket tighter around his body, "Bathing in the ocean and sleeping in a tent wasn't my idea of fun, Kame."
The younger just laughed and rolled over in his sleeping bag, "Is that what's bothering you, Jin?" he asked, propping himself up on his elbow, "You know, despite the stuff we had to do today, I actually had fun."
"Because your idea was to go to Hokkaido; you're laughing at my expense, aren't you Kamenashi?"
Kazuya reached out and ruffled Jin's hair, "Aw, Jin I didn't mean it like that."
Jin knew he was being stupid, but being confined in a small tent with Kazuya made him uncomfortable. He felt like a child around the younger teen. He rolled over, pressing his face against his pillow; mumbling a goodnight into the cotton.
There was a long sigh behind him, and the rustle of a sleeping bag. Jin almost thought that Kazuya had given up, until he felt a solid form press against his back. "Jin." Kazuya whispered into his hair. "What's wrong?"
All over, Jin felt stupid. He felt stupid for even suggesting going to Okinawa with Kazuya. He wasn't gay; he didn't have feelings for Kazuya. Okay, so that was a lie, he did have feelings for Kazuya. It wasn't love or anything complicated like that, he just wanted to be with the other teen. He didn't necessarily want a label; he just wanted to be around Kazuya without feeling dirty for having impure thoughts about the younger.
"Jin?" Kazuya repeated again, voice soft as he rested his head against Jin's shoulder, "Talk to me, okay? I'm here for you."
"I can't tell you." He said quietly, shoulders tense as he tried pressing himself deeper into the sleeping bag.
There was a moment of tense silence before Kazuya backed off, a fleeting touch across Jin's shoulders and the weight disappeared. Jin felt cold again.
"Night Jin."
-
Jin had decided long ago, that dwelling on the past hurt more than it helped. Which is why, during SUMMARY rehearsals, when Tomohisa tripped over his shoe laces and fell on top of Jin, their lips pressed together uncomfortably, he didn't jump away or shove the other when he felt Tomohisa's lips move just slightly against his, almost automatically. He kind of let his eyes close, really. He'd let Tomohisa move first, because part of him really liked feeling the weight of someone else on top of him like this (that part shoved away the nagging part that told him his first kiss was meant to be for his best friend. Pfft, his best friend is Yamapi, he argued with his mind for a full whole minute until he realized that Tomohisa had pulled away.)
"Sorry." He said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck.
Jin grinned at him and pushed himself up, "It's cool."
-
"Hey Kame?"
Kazuya barely paid any mind to Jin as he scribbled answer after answer for a magazine interview due in a few hours. "Hm?"
"Have you ever kissed another guy?"
The younger's hand faltered, a frown crossing his mouth, "What?"
Jin shrugged, "Just curious."
"Not really." Kazuya finally said, looking away from the paper and up at the older teen. "Have you?"
A strained laugh left Jin's lips, "Nah."
-
Months later, Jin wishes he'd told Kazuya about the not-so-real kiss with Tomohisa. At least then, he'd have probably saved himself a world of embarrassment.
"So that's why you asked me that, eh, Jin?" Kazuya said, sitting beside him on the couch in their practice room. Something about the younger teen's voice made Jin feel uneasy, like he was jealous, but for what reason?
"It was an accident." He justified, the excuse sounding odd on his tongue. Part of him had really liked the kiss, even if it was completely fake he had still liked it.
Kazuya laughed, "Sure. I guess that's why Yamashita loves you, right?"
He opened his mouth, then closed it, "Kame, we're best friends." He said slowly, "Best friends love each other, right?"
"Not enough to kiss each other."
Jin frowned, "So I can't kiss you?" he asked, the joke falling flat when Kazuya gave him a slightly disgusted look.
"Look, Jin. I don't care if you're like that, but don't do anything funny around me." He said as he stood up from the couch. "I'm straight."
The older teen crossed his arms across his chest, "You're too uptight." He mumbled, "I don't want to kiss you, anyway."
Kazuya didn't hear him, though. He was already out the door before Jin had a chance to finish.
-
Things went back to normal after that, they weren't awkward with each other, or anything silly like that. In fact, it was like nothing had happened at all.
Well, it only seemed like nothing had happened, until one day, he walked into KAT-TUN's practice room, Kazuya sitting on the couch with an icepack held to his cheek.
"Keep your damn boyfriend away from me, Akanishi." He said angrily, glaring up at him. "The next time he tries to start a fight with me, I'll kick his ass."
Jin, of course, had no idea what Kazuya was talking about. Kazuya knew that too, but the younger was stubborn and wouldn't say anything. So, like the good friend Jin was, he apologized.
"Look, Kame, whatever it was, I'm sure he's sorry..."
Kazuya just glared at him and stayed silent.
Jin let it be, after that. No sense in getting tangled in it.
-
Some nights later, Jin couldn't sleep. He'd gotten into another argument with his dad, they were on good terms, but some of the stuff Jin did or wanted, his old man never agreed with. So, like usual, he called Kazuya. They were older now, but when he needed someone to talk to, Kazuya was always there for him. After a thirty minute phone call, voices hushed in the dead of night, Jin was sneaking out his window and down to their place.
This time was different though, than all the other times they'd snuck out and met here. Kazuya seemed tense and shut off when Jin found him. Sitting down beside the younger in the grass, he leaned back against the tree, "Something up?" He asked, watching the younger's profile.
Kazuya stayed silent for a while, fingers tracing the slight bruise on his cheek, "What's it like?"
"...huh?" Jin supplied eloquently, confusion written across his features.
Kazuya let his hand drop to rest atop the grass as he looked over at Jin, "What did...kissing him feel like?"
Jin swallowed, "I don't know Kame." He said. "It was an accident. He fell on me and-" he broke off, exhaling shakily when Kazuya moved into his personal space, "Kame?"
Their faces were inches apart, Kazuya's half-leaning against Jin's shoulder; a warm solid weight on him. He can feel the younger's heartbeat, it's steady which surprises him, because his own heartbeat is rapid; the organ feeling like it's about to beat out of his chest. He's not sure how to describe the feeling inside him right now, years of wanting to kiss Kame-Kazuya-his mind tells him, he's Kazuya now, and now when he's this close, he can't move forward at all and just kiss him.
"Kazuya," he breathes, and that's all it takes for the younger to surge forward, kissing him sloppily, messily and completely inexperienced. That's alright though, because Jin kisses back the same way, eager and inexperienced. Neither of them are sure what to do with their hands, Kazuya's seems to want to touch every part of Jin he can, clumsy touches sometimes, bitten nails catching snags on Jin's shirt. Jin's hands hover somewhere between their bodies, shaking slightly as he doesn't know where to put them, where to hold Kame-Kazuya. Kazuya's different from a girl. There's no curves and softness, just lines and slight muscle. Somewhere in his mind, there's a voice that keeps telling him not to treat Kazuya like a girl, that he's a boy, he's different.
"Jin." Kazuya whispered, pulling away just enough so their lips weren't pressed together anymore, "Is that what if felt like?"
Jin licks his lips, feeling the shaky exhale the younger lets out against his mouth, "No." he whispers, voice coming out slightly breathless. "No."
The younger shrinks back slightly, and panic sets off in Jin's mind, "No!" he says, voice loud in the calm night air, "No, no, Kazuya. Stay." He finally grasps the younger's shirt, "Stay please."
Kazuya drops his hands on Jin's shoulders, resting their heads together, "What am I going to do with you, Jin?" he asks, his voice a strange mix of affection and exasperation.
-
The day that Jin moves out of his parent's house, Kazuya's there with him. They pack his things up in boxes and load them into the back of Jin's parent's van. It doesn't take long to move everything, because Jin doesn't have much, his clothes are what take up most of the boxes and the furniture is condensed down to his bed, dresser and couch.
When they get all the boxes inside, the couch is dragged slowly up the stairs and the bed's moved piece by piece. By the end of the day, they have all the boxes situated in the proper rooms, the mattresses are on the floor, frames propped up on the wall in the bedroom, and the couch is set centered in the living room.
Jin feels like an adult now, in some strange sense. He's only nineteen, he's still a bit childish and uneducated by society standards, but he has his own place now. No doubt his mom will still bring him food, and his dad will still call him to come watch Reio, but he's got an apartment. He's a grown adult now, ready to face the world.
Until his stomach growls and everything comes rushing back to him; the pain in his legs and back makes itself known, and he lets out a loud groan. A few heavy steps across the soft carpet and he collapses back onto the couch, sighing loudly.
He's not sure when his eyes slip closed, or when he falls into a light sleep, but he does.
A cold weight settles across his ankles and his eyes open.
Kazuya's standing there, pressing an icepack against his legs with a plastic bag in the other hand. "Hungry?" he asks when he notices Jin looking at him.
Something happened then, Jin couldn't exactly describe the feeling-possibly desperation, maybe it was some off form of love-but he grabbed Kazuya's arm and pulled him down.
He heard Kazuya exhale, breath fanning over his face, "Kazuya." He whispered, tilting his head up to look at the younger's form.
"What is it?" he asked, voice calm though Jin could hear a slightly nervous tone buried somewhere under the words. It was just like Kame, to hide his nervousness.
"I'm..." he trailed off, licking his lips, "I'm going to kiss you now, alright?"
Kazuya says nothing, just tilts his head to the side a little and leans forward.
The second time they kiss is no different from the first. They're still both inexperienced, they still don't know what to do, but they make it work. Jin still fists his hands in Kazuya's shirt, pulling him fully onto the couch and Kazuya still tries to touch every part of Jin he can. When Kazuya accidentally brushes Jin's collarbones, the older breaks the kiss with a scream, eyes wide as he presses himself back into the crook between the arm and back cushion of the couch.
The younger laughs, "Sorry." He apologizes, stroking his thumb over Jin's collarbone, feeling the older jolt under his touch. "It's not that bad, is it?"
Jin nodded, eyes closing when Kazuya pressed the pad of his thumb firmly against his collarbone and stroked, "S-stop..." He grabbed Kazuya's wrist in his hand, making a noise in his throat when the younger scraped his nail on the sensitive skin, "K-Kame..."
There's a calculating look on Kazuya's face as he looks down, zeroing in on the slight bulge in Jin's jeans. "You're enjoying that." He says matter-of-factly.
Jin tugs Kazuya's hand away from his collarbones and pulls the younger close again, "Stop it." He said, voice shaking just enough to make Kazuya give in and kiss Jin again.
They forget about the food and the ice pack steadily melting on Jin's ankles, the water dripping down onto the couch, but Kazuya was leaning in, one hand resting on Jin's cheek as they kissed. So, Jin just leaned into the kiss, hands tugging and tugging until he felt the younger's body press against his. He couldn't describe the feeling, the utter need to have the younger teen.
He knew what it meant when that strange feeling overtook his stomach, that feeling where every nerve in his body was set afire. His skin tingled under Kazuya's fingers, his mind whirling as heat rushed through his veins. "Kazuya." He breathed, pulling the younger until he was completely on top of Jin.
That's when he felt it; the bulge in the younger's jeans, warm against his thigh. He looked into Kazuya's lust blown pupils, a low hiss leaving his lips when Jin pressed his hand against that bulge.
Neither of them knew much outside of touching, being busy as much as they were on a daily basis gave little time to experiment, but the only thing on their minds right now wasn't that, it was making the pressure go away.
They didn't last long once they got their jeans and underwear down enough to touch each other, hands tugging and stroking as they kissed over and over and over.
It wasn't anything spectacular when they came, Kazuya was too quiet and Jin wasn't quiet enough, blushes covering their cheeks as they stared at each other. The embarrassment didn't last long, all it took was for Kazuya to look down at his now come-stained shirt, his grin crooked as he shoved Jin's shoulder and pulled his shirt over his head.
"We should try out the shower now."
Jin stared dumbfounded at Kazuya, before he started laughing; ignoring Kazuya's confused look and tugging him back down for another kiss.
He figures, if they keep kissing like this, then they'll get the hang of it eventually.
