This is how some Chileans live...and by some Chileans I really am only basing this on my own interactions, so I don't mean to generalize or bla bla bla.
There will be no "but isn't this beautiful" or "isn't this great" simply because today I just didn't find the beauty in any of this.
Without further ado...
The Typical Chilean
...believes that if the front of a dish is washed, then so is the back (thus leading to palta and other residue drying on the back of the plate and therefore soiling the front of the one behind it)
...further believes that simply rinsing a dish qualifies as "washing"
...will have friends get so drunk and lazy that they can't even bother to properly open YOUR bag of bread and therefore rip it open and neglect to close it (thus hardening 3 or so pieces)
...gets upset when you use a space heater in the zero-heat apartment because it wastes electricity...and yet leaves lights/music/TV on when they are not even close to being in the room
...informs you to come tutor at 6 instead of 5 because they are running late, and not show up until 6:30 after your waiting outside their apartment for 30 minutes (although I suppose one could argue that I was already warned about this and shouldn't be surprised)
...will never walk up an escalator...EVER...and will take up both sides so that no one else can either
...talks throughout all of class after being asked to stop several times, and then decides to hold you hostage with a thousand questions about the United States AFTER class
...breaks and/or steals items of yours and then doesn't fess up when you ask about the missing items
The list goes on.
I suppose the only "but" I can throw in is that at least the micro driver noticed I was having a bad day and therefore let me ride for free after my BIP was rejected. So there's the "but".
