so basically i'll be grabbing any spare moment as some quality erin-time or erin+jeremy time. sorry that is so boring but i find writing about it makes me feel better.
So to make this post a little more meaningful I'll tell a story of outrage and scandal. Its short. Don't worry.
There is a house in my suburb which has decided that being politically correct is either not their style, or just don't know it exists. The reason I say this is because they had two garden statues in their front yard for the whole world to see, and these particular garden statues are supposed to be Aboriginal Australians. That in itself is fairly bad, and you would think that if they have the bad taste and whatnot to even own such things, they would at least keep them in the backyard and not share them with the entire neighbourhood. While my suburb is a well-off predominately Anglo suburb, I would like to think that as a community we don't tolerate such things. However, there are several important factors to mention in order to help you, dear reader, understand why I hate those people and their garden statues so much.
1. They dress their statues up - I'm talking bunny ears on the head at Easter, Santa hats at Christmas, at the moment one is wearing a floral raincoat, they have Australian flags on Australia Day etc .. just the epitomy of bad taste.
2. They live directly opposite the local primary school. Therefore they are setting a poor example for the children in the area.
Anyway, as it turns out, my family must not be the only ones appalled by the statues and the treatment of them. About 6 months ago, the "male" statue went missing. No one was particularly upset but everyone noticed. About 2 months ago my parents discovered its new home. On the foreshore walk down near the river they noticed his head on the ground, it looked as if he had been buried up to the neck. On closer inspection they discovered he was not buried, but in fact smashed up and distributed around the area. I don't believe in dumping things like that on the river foreshore but because it was that statue I didn't feel so bad. My parents are still saying they will take the other statue one day. Hopefully someone else will get there first.
Okay so I lied about it being a short story. Its something which I have felt strongly about for a long time but don't have the will to do anything about. I hate the way their behaviour reflects on our neighbourhood. Oh to have the power of Celebration and other gated communities!
Anyway to finish off ....

sluglike, having to do with slugs.
